Got a friend that is in Germany to watch the panthers game. Nice Win.. They have been texting me since Thursday while in Germany. Guessing they paid for a international plan. Was just thinking will I be paying to respond to his text the past couple of days if I don't have an international plan. Don't ever travel abroad and haven't really had anybody text me from over sees before. Anybody know if i will be charged for responding.

I don't think so. Since you're using the stateside communication network, i don't believe you're charged as if your texts originated on international networks.
However, i'm not a mobile communications expert but i did stay at a holiday inn express last night.

Go to your crawlspace under the house, the texts will go through but they can’t trace you to charge you.

If they are using a US number purchased in US then you will not be charged. If they are using a foreign number where you have to add the +(country code) before number then you will be charged an international fee.

Did you have to do anything to your phone?

If they are texting you from Germany the same way that they would in the US, you are good. I have Verizon and pay $10 a day for Verizon travel pass when I am in Europe. I call and text family/friends like normal while I am over there. If the people that I am contacting did not know I was out of the country, they would be none the wiser.

Not for me. I have texted friends while they were traveling in Europe and Asia. Some texts originated abroad and some from me. Never has extra charges on Verizon. I sent texts and YouTube videos. Never had a problem.
