anyone want to guess what Alligator Alcatraz costs per bed, per day?

$245.00 per inmate, per day. You could stick them in a luxury hotel and lock the door from the outside, and it would be cheaper. A bunch of DeSantis campaign donors are getting rich off subcontracting the food and transportation, shocker.
For comparison, the average cost to keep a prisoner locked up in Florida, not in a tent, is $79 per day.
Great to see our tax dollars being well spent, as this will cost us 1/2 billion a year.

It's more about the threat of cruelty - i.e. terrorism.

Sporadic and unpredictable abduction raids in soft target areas like playgrounds, churches, work sites, etc. ICE unfortunately is somehow legalized domestic terrorism - that's the goal, and the clear effect.

Of course, this entire thing is just a giant grift for campaign donors to get richer. Trump supporters don’t care because they enjoy the cruelty, even if it hurts their bank account.

If the Dems were not a bunch of Pus>sies, they would be screaming this off the top of every landfill in Florida, and touring the facilities, with US marshals and/or state police if necessary. If ICE agents were to prevent them from doing so, they could be arrested on the spot.

These are bad hombre though. It costs more. Some were maids and others gardeners. There is even a report that some worked illegally in fast food restaurants. They caught this one bad hombre washing dishes. We need an Alcatraz type setting.

The average hotel rate would probably double without illegal labor.

So taxpayers paying for them to stay in actual luxury hotels (along with free phones, EBT, and who knows what else) in NYC and elsewhere gives the left a chubby but paying to imprison them in the middle of a swamp makes the left sad. Got it. Yall should run on that in 26.

I think they were going to try that luxury hotel thing one in Martha's Vineyard, but the locals weren't too happy about it.

Good point, we could be extracting gold fillings, and shaving their heads to line the coats of Ukrainian soldiers, to make some of this up.

That is because they have the lowest incarceration rate in the country while providing mental health and substance abuse treatment programs to the prisoners. They're also not living in tents and eating maggot-infested food.

When the system actually tries to rehabilitate, recidivism is lower. Spend money on adult education, vocation training, etc. and it's proven out that many prisoners can become productive when they get out. In the states that spend the least, they throw petty criminals into the same prisons with gangs and don't spend money on anything but guards and food. Recidivism is high, and a lot of those petty criminals turn into major criminals. You are aware that states like Florida and SC have a much higher murder rate, right? You are 5x more likely to be murdered in GA or SC vs Massachusetts. In Mississippi, it's 8x more likely than MA. Florida and TX aren't as bad, but it's still a 3x multiplier.

There is no rational excuse to violate basic human rights. This is almost as bad as Abu Ghraib, but at least that wasn;t not on our own soil;. We are better than this. And Truth be told, we created the refugee crisis by focusing money and attention on the border and not opioid treatment. The cartels would not exist if not for America's insatiable drug habits.

Someone explain to me why they need to be held en masse anywhere
Jul 20, 2025, 9:50 AM
[ in reply to I think the entire point of Alligator Alcatraz and the El Salvador prison is ] |

If they need to be deported, deport them. If you're trying to figure out if they need to be deported, figure it out THEN arrest them.
It's meant to be a concentration camp. That's it. And to be cruel. And y'all don't give me a "it can't happen here". This is how it started in other countries.
