Regarding the post about Dabo's future if he loses to USC
Dec 16, 2012, 11:03 AM
|
|
next year...I really don't know the answer to that, but I think he would likely be shown the door after number 5 in a row. However, think about this: what if Dabo loses to LSU and UGA in the opener next year? I don't think this will happen, in fact, I think we'll win both. But, if Dabo loses both, I'd say there's a good chance you see HC Chad Morris in week 2. Just food for thought.

that you can't win the tough games or the team is soft. It would take losing all three and to FSU imho to make a change.

is way positive. That does not mean you can go out and beat the next top 5 or top 10 team you play.
You dont fire a 9-3 coach. Think UT wishes they hadn't done Fulmer like they did? And I would take Dabo over Fulmer in a heartbeat.
No, what we do against lsu and uga has little bearing on Dabo's future if progress continues. Wins follow progress. Like Coach Boone said, "Just like novocaine; give it time."

or at least some of them and beating your rival from time to time. Im not seeing any of that right now. I will be watching the LSU game very very close. If we are making progress then we will at least take them down to the wire even if we don't win. If we lay an egg...well you will see more and more disgruntled fans. The LSU game may very well be the most important game of Dabo's HC career to this point.

lose this game and there's a lot of doubt that can crepe in over a winter of whether or not we can get it done against a good team with UGA coming up in the first game....critical to win.

If that happens, Dabo's seat certainly becomes red hot.
IMO our defense will have to improve DRASTICALLY next season for Dabo to avoid that outcome. Right now our defense is horrible. No way to beat good teams without a good defense.
Whether you're a Dabo supporter or not, that is the reality we're facing. He has to recruit and coach up a strong defense in the next two seasons. If he doesn't he must be fired.

I bet even if Dabo loses to LSU, UGA, SC, doesn't win the ACC, and loses a bowl game he would still be back. It's going to at least take a few years in a row of way underachieving for him to get fired. I love Dabo, and think he is our best shot to return to a dominant team like we were in the 80's. Too much emphasis is being put on beating the coots. We will beat the coots again and many times more in the near future. With Spurrier or without. Have some dignity Tigers!

I'm not happy with 2, 3, or 4 losses to the #####, but how
Dec 16, 2012, 11:57 AM
|

do you fire a man that wins his league consistantly and finishes in the top 20 recruiting consistantly? I agree he needs to win a few more big games, but he did get over a few humps last year and maintained this year. I think we would be the laughing stock of the country if we fired a coach with 10 win seasons because we lost to our rival. We will beat them soon enough. If you think back to the preseason, I think most of us would have taken 10 wins all day long. Granted we would have hoped one of those would be the #####, but still, we had a lot of questions on defense. More concern was on the D-line, and I didn't see the secondary being the issue, but we will continue to upgrade and improve.

..in any of those losses you guess about, I don't see how Morris moves up to anything at Clemson. There's too much talent here for many more one sided losses (opponent with a lot more time, field coverage/yards, and points). Fair losses, like last minute FG is a different story.

think our "fighting dabo's" can beat LSU. all the real football people, coaches and the betting line have us getting our butts whipped again by a physical team.
Blabo can't field a physical team. He needs to pack his **** and get back to selling used cars. with the money we pay we can get a decent, experienced, hard-nosed, real football coach.
I have been displeased with Dabo (too much mouth) till he was quoted as saying Jeff Scott would probably be the new offensive coordinator. Now I think his time to leave has arrived. Wow, what a brilliant move. Promote one of your inexperienced bible school buddies

I'm on record as saying we are deservedly the underdog and it'll be a tough game to win.
But lets not pretend that LSU has played amazing football all year. They've squeaked by a few teams they had no business coming close to losing to.
We can beat them.
Will we? I don't know. Were I betting man I may bet against it, but I also find it funny you'd think it a foregone conclusion.

This is a little absurd. I've written that Dabo could be gone if he loses to USC 7, 8, 9 times, but given that our program is improving and the best it has been in 20 years, you really cont show this guy the door.
Here's the post where I discuss Dabo's future and more generally the decade ahead for the ACC schools: http://ryankantor.com/2012/12/10/ranking-the-acc-football-programs-the-decade-ahead/

they are more interested in keeping sos. dabo is now starting to get the talent level up to a decent level, meaning the rivalry will become closer to what it once was. they have out-talented us the last few years, esp. on both lines. if we can hold on to the commits we have, and maybe add a couple of the others that we have a better than average chance of landing, than i like our chances. we have some very good o-line talent that will start being seen against uga ( caldwell has done an outstanding job, based on everything i've seen, read or heard).
