Not necessarily. If SMU loses to Virginia it comes down to opponents winning %, which Clemson currently has a big lead (7-7 vs 3-10 among non-common opponents). Same with Miami losing to WF, but I don't think that's realistic and the opp win % is currently tied (8-12 vs 8-12).

That's not true. With our loss to Louisville, we now lose the tiebreaker which is record against common opponents. The opponent winning % is further down the tiebreaker list.

and Virginia is a common opponent too. We beat them and SMU will have lost to them (if they lose). Makes record against common opponents equal, so then tiebreaker moves to conference opponents record

I think what you’re asking is about a CFP at large bid. No, the amount of losses needed from the top 10 to 25 in the rankings would have to be enormous. The CFP committee never saw the Tigers as a true top 10 team with the #23 ranking (as compared to how the media and coaches polls dropped us after the loss).

From what I have seen, we have no business anywhere near the playoffs. I am hoping for a strong finish this year where we show some incremental improvement and a better year next season.

I don't think there is any scenario where a 2 loss ACC team will go unless they're the champion. They'll take 2 and 3 loss SEC and Big Ten teams first. It's over.
