Not likely, but definitely possible.
I can envision where every 10-2 SEC and B1G, plus some 9-3 SEC and B1G are ranked higher than Clemson by the committee.
Not predicting it. Just saying it is possible.

If we win out we easily make the ACCCG, so no real discussion needed. SMU is already ranked lower and we both play Pitt. USuC would actually be a decent win also, so would be a good SOS add. Don’t see how SMU would jump us in the rankings.

Rankings aren’t taken into consideration for the ACCCG. If there is a 3 way tie it goes to the two teams whose opponents have the highest conference winning percentage.

Miami has Duke, Ga Tech, Wake and Syracuse left. I don't really see them losing any of those. SMU has Pitt, BC, UVA and Cal. I do feel SMU will lose one of those.
So, if we win out, then it is us and Miami for the championship. If we get beat by Miami, then we may have to sweat a bit.
I do agree with you that if we win out and don't make the ACCCG, then we are still in, which seems kind of weird. I actually want to play and win the conference championship.

If we finish the season 8-0 in the conference, we will make the championship game because the tiebreaker is in our favor. As far as a tiebreak goes, our opponents have a 3 win advantage over SMU's opponents as of now. We have 5 common opponents and our 3 differing teams, NC State, Wake and VT will win more games than Duke, BC and Cal.

Correct. There is no scenario where that happens! Our conf SOS is much better than SMU's. In fact, their remaining conf games are horrendous! They have Pitt but at home. If we go 7-1 & SMU 8-0 that's gonna sting bc I think we'd beat them by 2 TDs!! Really needed Duke to beat them Sat! (28-27 OT)

If we somehow were left out of the ACC Championship finishing undefeated, I could absolutely see a scenario where we are left out of the playoff. The talking heads are already talking about the strength of schedule. Should we be left out, no. But it could and would likely be the case as they would put in a 2 loss SEC school over us.

Clemson does not even finish in the top 2 in their conference (the weakass ACC) but they get into the CFP - NO WAY !

I’d say let’s see where the committee ranks us in their first poll. If we are inside the Top 12 and don’t lose another game, I’d be surprised to see us all of a sudden fall out in the last poll.

There is no way three ACC teams will make the playoff. ND is already considered an ACC team by the talking heads and ND will make the playoff. If Clemson does not make the title game, the Tigers will see their ranking tank to justify the snub. Remember the new rule and justification that magically appeared last year for FSU?
