I'm so tired of hearing some of our fan base say that there is just no way we can recruit to the level of the elite when the above mentioned teams are doing it. They have as much basketball prowess as we do. I can also tell you that if we were ranked in the top 15, our arena would not have been as empty as FSU'S was yesturday.

None of that means anything if you aren't relevant in March. It will be the same story with all of those teams, early exits in the tournament. Scar has only played Kentucky in the SEC and they got throttled. They suck

It was only a 10 point game against UK with 10 minutes to go. I'm not sure they got throttled but for sure you guys got throttled by FSU yesterday. But to be fair, that happens and fortunately it only counts as one loss. You guys have a decent team and to be honest I'm not sure why you guys are 3-7 in the ACC. You did beat us and that was a good win even though our leading scorer was out for the game but a win is a win. If you guys pull out a few home wins you make the dance.

With 0 minutes to go, what was the score? Or did they stop playing with 10 minutes to go?

I am more and more impressed with FSU's coach. He has figured out how to make lemonade with lemons (FSU is not reputationally known as a basketball school). He has carved out creds in bball at FSU... Gotta tip your hat to him for that.

Look at the number of top 300 ESPN players FSU has. If anything, one could say they have been under performers many years.

Agree with everything you said except for South Carolina. Miami and FSU have had decent basketball programs for a while, SC simply isn't that type of program. They're usually worse than us. Also, the SEC is terrible at basketball, and outside of UF and KY the rest of that league doesn't have programs worth emulating.
Why can't we be like FSU, Miami, of UF? That's the question I think you meant to ask.

recent basketball success for a national championship in football? The answer is yes, every single one would make that trade in a heartbeat. It's not even debatable.

Please don't compare us to the Shamecocks as something to aspire to. The last time the coots were in the NCAA was 2004. Yes, the coots have a good team this year and play in a weak conference. After all the Tigers have beat the coots, dogs and elephants this year along.
I don't know that Littlejohn would be full or sold out if we were ranked 15. I have been a season ticket holder in football and basketball for over 35 years and this year is one of the worse years I can remember for attendance for basketball - even when playing UNC at home and having a very good out of conference season. The remodeling is a bad joke with less seats and many empty seats. Many loyal ticket holders and unhappy. The players and most of us season ticket holders have to look at many empty seats in the "elite" seating area behind the benches. The admin sold "our" soul to the rich who don't come and don't cheer. Gone is the loud home court advantage the Tigers used to have.
Yes, basketball is disappointing and should be better, but for now blame a lot on our AD - Radaxxxxxx

Many of these tickets were purchased because the holders were requested to buy- by their IPTAY Rep. and they did it out of a sense of loyalty to the University. IPTAY should have a texting system whereby a text for each home game goes out to all Season ticket holders the day before every game. If tix are not confirmed, they should be given to students. That is the only way to fill in the lower seats. We could be 20-4 and the holders of those Tix, who live in Charleston, would not be sitting in those seats. Also, the Elite area should double it's capacity so that all sitting in lounge area would not be leaving a seat open court-side. Just my 2 cents coming from experience with other IPTAY members and having sat in Elite area for multiple games this year. The same thing will happen with baseball lounge area.

However, this thread sounds exactly like something an SC fan would post on FGF about their football team. The kind of stuff that we on Tigernet like to laugh about.. as if SC could ever be that good in football.

We can, but administration and fans need to care a lot more.

Our administration rarely makes basketball a priority. We let facilities fall way behind and hire coaches who are not proven on the high major level. We try to do things "on the cheap" rather than doing them right the first time.
I am optimistic that the recent facility upgrades mean that we are serious about basketball. However, this doesn't change the fact that our fans have low expectations. Daily, I read comments such as these on TigerNet concerning basketball:
-We will never compete with Duke and UNC in basketball -We shouldn't expect to be in the NCAA Tournament every year -Success in basketball should be defined as making the NCAA Tournament three out of every five years
Pathetic statements like this show a real lack of support or belief. I understand that our history in basketball is bad, but there is no reason why that can't change.
