VT Coach in Waiting ...

Remember when VT fans wanted Bud Foster to be named the "Coach in Waiting" at VT a few years back ??

Well, that is not the case anymore.

always under the impression that Foster was unofficially the coach-in-waiting. He's stuck around Blacksburg probably 15 years after he could've left for any number of really good jobs and I think a big reason was the implicit understanding that he was going to take over for Beamer.

Here, near the end, it doesn't look like that's going to be the case. You have to wonder what's going through Foster's mind.

Here's a curveball: assuming Beamer steps down and they hire from the outside, does someone like USuCk, Miami, or Maryland come after Foster as the HC?

I love the story of Foster's interview at Clemson for HC position. Basically saying if Clemson didn't hire him he would make sure VT whips Clemson's ###. . . so glad we hired Dabo and not Foster.

That explains why he has been passed up so many times for HC gigs, despite constantly interviewing for them. VT would be making a big mistake if they let him become head coach.
