Here is what I don't want in a new basketball coach

I don't want a coach that is only "a little bit better" than what we have. We don't need incremental improvement; we need a game changer. So, if we aren't going to get serious about this and spend what it will take to attract the very best then we might as well hang on to BB until we decide that is what we are willing to do.

Locking ourselves up with a coach who is only a little better is worse for the program than sticking with what we have until we decide our basketball program is truly worth building up to try and break out of the mediocre program we have historically been.

Our administration really needs to decide if we are happy being a football school or if would we like to try and build success in the second most relevant/lucrative program we have.

In summary, I'm ready for the program to move on and take a step forward but if we aren't committed to doing what it takes to get us where we want to be then it won't matter who we bring in to replace Brad.

It will just wind up being more of the same...

I don’t think anyone really cares what you want.

Just one man's opinion on a board full of them. No better or worse than yours on anyone else...

Who has made the statement that Clemson is not willing to invest in bringing a quality basketball coach here?

We haven't really heard what Neff is thinking in terms of future spending and prioritization. All we can go on right now is past history and my point was that if we aren't willing to change that then we certainly should not be expecting a different result.

Heart shaped ### too, but how does it feel to want?” In other words, it won’t matter what we want. Unfortunately. 🤷‍♂️

Identifying someone with vision and chops who looks at

Clemson as a great opportunity would be my hope. We've clearly shown incredible loyalty and long leashes from our AD for the role, which should be very attractive. Our facilities aren't outdated or especially lacking, and considering our overall lack of success over our history, including this past decade, coaching glory is there for the taking. Though he is now our winningest coach ever, following Brad is not like following a legend, which can be a tricky call for anyone to walk into.

I believe fully that Graham Neff wants to be that AD that brings glory to Clemson basketball. We've been blessed with success in so many other sports. As a younger guy with a name to make for himself in the business, this is where he could really make his mark.

If Brad can right this year's ship and get us back to the potential that this roster and team has shown it possesses, which would include an NCAA appearance, then let's tack on another year and see if his new coaching group and approach can show some positive consistency. If not, well, with Neff having a year + at the helm and a better feel for outside opportunities, I like our chances starting fresh.

Go Tigers!

I would just like to see some exciting offense. I thought when BB brought in the Motion offense it would be a snorefest. Say what you want about Purnell but at least his teams were fun to watch. They were either gonna stomp somebody or get stomped. Speaking only for myself.

I hear what you're saying there about style and enthusiasm, but winning big is as fun to watch as them all. Unfortunately we got the evil opposite of Purnell ball, and the winning pace went away as well, so double whammy.

More than anything, I'd like to see us get more physical overall. We've always been at our best fielding a physical and aggressive type of play, IMO, and the kids who fill those roles. We have a decent nucleus for that right now on this squad actually heading forward.

Anyway. Go Tigers! Stick it to the Noles!
