THE criticism will end when we see a team without deficiencies this year, because Dabo chose to only get 3 players from the portal, the fewest in ACC and fewest of all college teams outside of the service academies. So we can expect to not see trouble at punter, safety, or LB depth since DABO didnt think he needed anyone else. time will tell. Last years team had significant talent issues that Dabo should have addressed in prior years portal but stubbornly chose not to , and cost Clemson dearly .

then he has been way overpaid the last several years! A man paid that much should have known better than to hire porkchop to ruin a great defense. Clemson should demand a refund from DABO for that debacle. also a man making that kind of money should be expected to fix things like special teams that have been a problem forever!

Dabo already has to cut a several dozen kids if/when the roster limits come into play, I think we had ~135 last year with walkons while staying at/under the 85 scholly limit. The new limit of 105 has to be scholly kids and no walk-ons allowed. So instead of cutting 30 kids that were walk-ons last year he cuts 31.
Please tell me you are going to argue that 31st kid was more likely to contribute than a 6-8 240lb athletic monster.

Dude are really that dumb to expect Sheff to be able to contribute this year ? He spent all last year fighting back issues , hasn’t played in years , and now you are naive enough to expect him to play meaningful snaps ? Surely you are the one kidding. We need help at safety , punter , and LB still so adding another player should have been at a spot of need, not a feel good story for a guy that has exhausted his eligibility.

The point is that we should have cut walkons to make room for a player at a position of need that could help us right way . As far as punter it is a glaring weakness and we are trusting a career backup that couldn’t beat out what we had last year . If you think dead last in ACC , and one nations worst punting is ok , then I don’t know what to say.
