Favorite Non-Clemson Bowl Game of All-Time?

I have a tie:
2000 Independence Bowl (Texas A&M vs Miss St) - This game was incredible. High scoring affair between 2 future SEC foes that came down to the final play. Not to mention, the multiple inches of snow was a nice touch. The funny part is that Mississippi State went on to have 6 straight losing seasons afterwards.

2007 Fiesta Bowl (Boise St vs Oklahoma) - Some people forget that Oklahoma was absolutely rolling leading up to this one. They won 7 straight games without Adrian Peterson, plus a Big 12 title. Speaking of Adrian, he returned from a broken collarbone just to play in this game (a rare act these days). But obviously, none of that mattered to this small school from the WAC. Not many words can describe this one.

No question. The 1978 Orange Bowl. Oklahoma came in needing a blowout win over Arkansas to jump to No.1 and was favored by 30 until they took it off the board when Lou Holtz suspended the entire Arkansas backfield for some kind of violation. A third string running back named Roland Sales gained 220 yards and the Hogs blew 'em out. You could hear "Wooo Pig Sooie" all through the airport on our way back to SC.

Texas has a bunch of good ones (including some non bowl games) from the Young and McCoy Era. I also love them beating Jawja in 2018 and Jawja making the excuse that they didn't try because they didn't want to be in the Sugar in favor of the Playoff (where they would have gotten smacked by us).
2004/05 Rose Bowl vs. Michigan; Texas 38, Michigan 37 2005 Texas @ Ohio State; Texas 25, OSU 22 2008 Red River Shootout; Texas 45, OU 35 2008/09 Fiesta Bowl; Texas 24, OSU 21 2018/19 Sugar Bowl; Texas 28, Georgia 21
Other bowl games I loved:
2008/09 Sugar Bowl: Utah 31, Bama 17 2009/10 Fiesta Bowl: Boise State 17, TCU 10 2011/12 Fiesta Bowl: OK State 41, Stanford 38 2012/13 Sugar Bowl: Louisville 33, Florida 23 2013 Chick Fil A Bowl: A&M 52, Duke 48 2013/14 Sugar Bowl: OU 45, Bama 31 2013/14 Rose Bowl: Michigan State 24, Stanford 20 2014 Peach Bowl: TCU 42, Ole Miss 3 2014 Orange Bowl: GT 49, MS State 34 2014/15 Cotton Bowl: Michigan State 42, Baylor 41 2014/15 Rose Bowl (CFP): Oregon 59, FSU 20 2015/16 Rose Bowl: Stanford 45, Iowa 16 2016 Orange Bowl: FSU 33, Michigan 32 2016/17 Rose Bowl: USC 52, Penn State 49 2017/18 Peach Bowl: UCF 34, Auburn 27 2018 Redbox Bowl (sickos-level): Oregon 7, Michigan State 6
Been following since 2005 or so. But I grew up in MI, so all we followed were Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame back then. Didn't move South until 2008, and didn't follow Clemson until 2010 when I applied there.

That's a very good one. I believe I would've had that #1 but I missed most of the game live (we had a special service at church that night). But on playback, you can still feel the energy.

I'm with you on the Oklahoma-Boise St Fiesta Bowl

The Texas USC game was great - no doubt - but it was expected to be good. The Fiesta Bowl was expected to be an OU blowout of BSU, and BSU pulled the dramatic upset in overtime with some killer trick plays. I've rewatched the ending of that game many times and enjoy it every time.

Nope, USC was titled the best all time team by ESPN and Texas upset them. It wasn't expected to come out like it did. I'm surprised at some of you.

The 2000 Independence Bowl reminds me...

of the 2001 Gator Bowl between Clemson and Virginia Tech. We were celebrating a cold and windy New Years Eve at the The Landing in Jacksonville, and one of the bars had the snowy Independence Bowl on TV.
As for the Gator Bowl, Virginia Tech (9 - 1) got hosed by the BCS in favor of Notre Dame. Notre Dame was sent to the Fiesta Bowl to play Oregon State while VT was relegated to the Gator Bowl. They clearly weren't happy about it and they took it out on Clemson. Oregon State then put a beat down on the Bee Bee Heads 41 - 9.
Clemson and Notre Dame in the Gator bowl would have been a much better match-up.

Huh. No votes for the Orange Bowl where Nebraska, ranked #1, pre-overtime era, went for two and the win and the undisputed Natty versus upstart Miami and Bernie Kosar? Now Osborne had cajones!

I agree on the 2007 Fiesta. Great game.
I also attended the 2004 Liberty Bowl with my father in law. Louisville 44, Boise St 40, which until last night was the highest scoring. Great seats, great eats (before game and next day). Just a great time.

What an evil person you are. You're two favorite bowl games were with Aggy and OU? The Texas vs USC Rose Bowl was far better than either of those two and even voted so by the masses, yet you pick these two? Boise beating OU was fun, but any game with Aggy is painful.
