As a family member of a former player I can assure you that you only speak for people who do not know Jack.
His former players absolutely love him and have tons of respect for him. Those are the people who spent the most time around him and would have the best opportunity to see who he truly is.
Your perception as a fan for whatever reason is misguided and wrong.

That "jerk" you speak of talked to me for over 30 mins in 2017 when I saw him eating lunch in CFA of Clemson. We talked about everything under the sun but mainly lessons about life learned after college. He gave much to Clemson baseball and the community. Even though there were people who were happy when he was fired, I was upset. Bet some people are wanting him back now.

I think Jack had the same misfortune that Muschamp has- and I am not equating those two in terms of career accomplishments or anything else. It's just that USC was at the very top at the end of Jack's run, and they had pushed us down on there way up there.
In hindsight, so far we have not progressed at all under Monte Lee from where Jack had us. And it just might be the case that if Jack had not been fired, with Ray Tanner's move to AD, he could have gotten us back to Omaha, and perhaps even gotten that elusive championship.
We had some great years under Jack. After hearing that interview, I tend to agree that it is unjust that he didn't get the same sort of "farewell" that Mike Martin has gotten down at FSU. And its not like for all of Martin's accomplishments FSU ever won a title either.

Ding Ding Ding- we have a winner. That’s exactly what happened. Best explanation I’ve heard. We as fans were very spoiled and assumed going to supers and Omaha every 2-3 years were givens. Every one wanted a CWS... and wondered what it takes because we had gotten so close. But then usuck came along and won two, beating us (still don’t know how) after our best chance in Omaha and everyone immediately started screaming for change. Jack was too old and out of touch etc etc.
What peeps didn’t understand is how the 2009 rules changes were about to change baseball forever... coots squeezed in right before that was going to change it. It took a few years to affect cbb.
I can only pray we never treat Dabo that way. The CWS is hard to win and only getting harder. Non level playing fields.

I expect better things out of this team next year. I really liked Jack too but I don't think you can "small ball" your way to a title.

That’s how we won two titles and made a third title game.

Are you back to being the humble coot we all know and love and by love I mean we feel sorry for, or are you “in wait till next year mode” like after Virgina whipped your sorry team, ??

We went from one extreme to the other.
Too much small ball to zero small ball.
Small ball has it's place situationally and Tanner was a #### good game manager.

Jack was too much small ball and Monte is too much all or nothing going for the long ball. For Monte to be successful he must modify his approach and make some coaching changes. TBD if this will happen because Monte is pretty stubborn and set in his ways.
