his future in football whether it be at Clemson or NFL. I think he could give sound advice. It does not appear DJ is NFL material as he cannot make quick decisions at the line or in the pocket. I also wonder about his plans for next year as well. Would love to hear tnetters' thoughts.

He's not being honored on Senior day
He has shown great talent but no consistency.
He still hesitates too much in decision making. (Both in passing and in running).
My assumption is that he stays on another year.
Given his improvement from last year to this year, he could have a great season next year if the trend continues.

No I just think it’s unreasonable to expect both of the younger guys to stay if DJ comes back for another year. I’d say Cade would go since he’s blown one year already sitting behind a bad QB. I feel for the guy. He’s been humble through it all.

DJ would not be chosen in the draft if it was held tomorrow.
He is a super young man but he doesn’t have the skills that a top level QB must haver to be successful. He likely will not have the skills to lead Clemson to championships. The Heels have a QB who will blow Clemson off the field. A lot of improving must be done before the season ends.

I think he stays another year with the understanding that the QB competition will be wide opoen and the best QB will start. Maybe he works on a meaningful Master's degree, cause he is not for the NFL.

If you were Cade’s Dad, what would you talk to your son about after seeing the way he’s been handled this season? There is no short list of teams that would love the chance to develop him. If DJ comes back my son would have a lot to think about.

It seems to me that Dabo has always told players at every position that the best player would play. I have been told that that is exactly what he told TL. I cannot imagine he said anything different to CK and I see no reason why he should.
Cade has not proved to be the better QB this year (despite DJ's limitations) and thus has gotten reduced playing time. The only thing I would tell the Cade's is the same thing. There will be an open competition for QB - everyone will get a fair shot - AND the best QB will start.
If the Cade's are not satisfied with that, they can go the way of Kelly Bryant.

Cade has not played enough meaningful snaps to show anything. Now it must be what he is showing in practice because I hope the players and coaches are not judging him on his playing time. Meaning this more for fans because I’m fairly certain the coaches have their own metrics which imo would be things fans will never know or see.
I will add that Clemson will not get to where we want to be with DJ under center. Does not take a football expert to see the inefficiencies in the offense last season and now again this season.
Last year we were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Next year will tell us a lot more with Cade having been in the system for a full season.

I bet you’re right. And maybe neither would transfer. But it’s hard to imagine keeping both young QBs if DJ thinks he needs to stay at Clemson. He’s already polarizing, imagine how bad it would be if he’s the reason one of the others, which represent hope, transfers out.

I am not sure you are NFL ready but it would be best for both parties that you look at another school - maybe near the West coast where you are comfortable". If he stays, then we may win the ACC but will NOT be in the top 4. He waits until the receiver has gotten open rather than throwing to a spot - which gives the DB's time to make a play. I agree with the comment earlier saying he is a step slow in his reads. Trevor and Deshawn got rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds (average) and DJ has to be close to 5.

I thought that one of the two mentioned that DJ was moving on from Clemson after this season, but left it vague as to whether that meant transfer, NFL, or no more football. I may be mistaken.

right after Clemson's final game. We will never learn the details because of the character qualities of those two men. We won't know when it happened either but DJ will announce a transfer to a school which has accepted him and intends to allow him to compete for the starting job.
I believe Dabo will simply tell him Cade is most likely at the front, or first in line to start next year. It will be heart breaking for both my my heart would be overjoyed if it were to happen.
Imo, if DJ doesn't choose a change independent of some motivation from Dabo the probability that it happens is very low, possibly @ <.30.

I would hope they don't wait until after game four of 2023 to do a Kelly Bryant sit-down.
Need some honest talks with both QBs after the season:
"DJ, while there has been improvement from last season until this one, you cannot count on being named the starter before the season begins. In fact, you need to know that your production over the past two years is not up to the Clemson standard. In 2023 we will need a better quarterback than you have been. Maybe you can be the guy we saw flashes of against Notre Dame the first time. But you have no promises from us."

If he pulls it off and it all begins to click for him, he might get drafted after winning a National Championship!
If Jalen Hurts can make the NFL, DJ can too if he begins to make sound decision's in a timely manner. We have the talent on this team to compete with anyone.
