I watched the quarterback from Syracuse shake his head and throw his hands up all game on Friday, probably shouting tons of obscenities. This after his receivers (or he) made a mistake and resulted in an incompletion or interception. Every time I saw this, I felt like he was a POS, someone who blames others and doesn’t ask what he himself could have done better. He did not encourage his receivers or pick them up. I did not feel like he cared about his guys. He did not deserve that win.
I’ve not seen this from receivers when DJ overthrows, from DJ when receivers drop or his line whiffs and gets hammered. Ajou whiffed on one block and Allen got whacked. He just got up.
It happens on other defenses always. When someone gets burned or misses an assignment, there’s a ton of finger pointing. Not at Clemson. Never saw it once.
I’ve seen camaraderie, the “that’s on me” chest slap, the sideline encouragement.
I will never forget the hustle Isaiah Simmons put on after (I think) the K-Von Wallace INT. He scored because Isaiah ran 80 yards for that block. Right after that highlight on ESPN I saw another highlight from Ohio State. An INT by a random Buckete, and Chase Young could have blocked two guys for his teammate. Instead he jumped out of way super intentionally and let him get tackled.
our players do seem to be better quality people than much of what we see out there and our fans are of a far better quality than those at Tenn and USC, just to name 2. I hope these things do not change.
