that our men's basketball team was two plays away from being ACC regular season champions and making the NCAA Tournament last year.

Our success in football has been amazing and it's been a helluva ride. A lot of people think we are finished, but i completely disagree.
The ACC is significantly harder to win a championship in basketball than football, especially at clemson.
1. You have to win 3 games at a minimum to win an ACC championship
2. We have to compete with 2-3 national championship contenders every single year in basketball. In football, there has not been a single other national championship contender during our run. The ACC has been pathetic.
3. Clemson has never won an ACC championship basketball. It's not strictly a brownell problem. We have 3 national championships in football, but 0 ACC championships in basketball...... but derp, brownell be bad.

Very true. Unfortunately when that's a consistent story and trend that explains away 13 years of malaise it comes off as hollow and another cheap shot at the winningest coach in Clemson athletics history.
Brad's record in one-possession games is last in the league over his tenure. Nobody chokes away wins from the box quite like him. Some have fared worse over that stretch but unlike Brad they're no longer coaching ACC teams, hence his place at the bottom.
