80% of the students already attend the games and I'd be willing to be close to 90% will be at the game next Thursday.

You're high. There were 70,000 at a Thursday night game in '02 vs NCSU, no way there's less when we're actually worth a Shyatt.

This will be the only game I can go to this year due to so many other commitments, also bringing a friend up who has never been to a Clemson game. Hopefully they'll put on a show. Wouldn't mind seeing all orange for the last meaningful game of the year in DV for all the seniors and guys we'll lose to the draft.

problematic for a lot of people but our attendance has been great so far this year... Some people have speculated 60,000 but I'm hoping at least 72,000 or so turn out.
I'm wondering how the atmosphere will be since some people will show up after they get off work instead of tailgating all day like they would for a normal Saturday night game.

so problematic.
People act like we just found out about it. We knew about this date back in the summer.
If you can't go sell your tickets to people that can. I have been to a few VT Thursday night games and they fill it up and have a blast.

So you think 83,500 will show up for a Thursday night?
Nov 4, 2013, 1:54 PM
|
|
Please--lots of people can not take 2 days of work like that AND many of our fans come from far and wide (Lowcountry SC, Georgia, and North Carolina, etc.). Just a fact. It will be a good crowd but it will not be a big-time 83,500 crowd like for a big Saturday game.

Other than for the fans in the Greenville area its a nighmare. Basically those of us in Atlanta, Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston, etc, etc, etc would have to take 1.5 - 2 days off work. Combine that with spouses work, and kids school, its terrible. If they want Clemson on a Thursday night that make it a road game!

save some vacation days for football games. Who the heck needs a cruise or some crap like that in the summer?
So far this season I have used: 2 vacation days for NC State game 1 vacation day for UVA game

That's only 1 week right there, and this year was freakish with 2 Thursday night games.

They go to EVERY game. They even made the last game in Japan.
But something came up at work and they didn't make the game. They finally came up on Friday since we had a cabin rented up at Oconee.

If there is a fairly high probability of rain or if it's supposed to be pretty chilly, a lot of people will choose to stay home and watch on television.

school. I remember sitting in Earle Hall watching people tailgate outside the window ... an orange Jeep Wrangler on the grass on by the Hunter lot. I would say that the being close to the game was a good consolation, but honestly, we were 3-8 that year and GT destroyed us.
Back then the pit at the bottom of Williamson Rd was a resident lot, even during games. Also, most of the green spaces in the interior of campus weren't IPTAY, so if you could snag a spot there, you were golden.

I'd say maybe 75K. Georgia Tech will bring a lot of fans, maybe enough to fill the North top deck. The Clemson fans that are coming are the ones who are most likely to be loud and actively invested in the game, so I don't think noise (or the lack thereof) will be an issue. And of course students will be out in force. It's going to be a well-attended game.

My question: Why WOULDN'T the place be packed?
Nov 5, 2013, 6:23 AM
|
|
It's a Thursday night, but it's been known for months.
Since its a night game, traffice was going to be a beast already, and folks weren't getting home until the wee hours anyhow. Friday will be a lost cause, whether you're there or watching at home.
For the love of everything holy, how could a true Son of Clemson NOT get there if at all possible ... of for nothing else to lay a nut-cutting on the Jackets and reinforce a win that could nudge us back into the Top 5?
Given fair weather, if there are fewer than 78K in the Valley that night, I'll have to break out the snakes.
