They can practice with the team and travel with them but if they play one snap they will lose their RS. A player can play the first 2 games i believe and if he is injured he can receive a medical RS

The redshirts travel with the team to the bowl game...when they are saying he will miss the bowl game, they are saying it is too soon after surgery to travel with the team
He did redshirt, so they would not want him to play in this game or he would lose his redshirt status
