will be an internal hire.
If it wasn't, there would be names floating around since every other school that has vacancies seems to be filling them quickly.
Venables already got his OC from Ole Miss, so that shows it is a pretty quick process if you are trying to get someone externally.

Maybe nobody from the outside wants to be the guy that follows Brent Venables. Maintaining the status quo would be a major achievement for anyone. Good luck Dabo. We know you'll make the best decision possible.

From everything I’ve read on Wes Goodwin and how the team reacted to him being the DC for the bowl game I hope he gets it. A successful NFL coach doesn’t just take someone to be his assistant without seeing the potential, especially with his abilities to break down film to know the plays coming. Also BV doesn’t want just anyone coming with him there was a reason he wanted him.

Venables didn't have a choice but to name his OC quickly.
He is trying to keep Caleb Williams on his roster.
It's also much easier for Venables to have open contact with other coaches about possibly joining his staff if he ever took a head coaching job. The "man it could be fun coaching together someday" conversation happens all the time.
It's much harder for Dabo to put out feelers ahead of time when he can't really do anything until he actually loses a coach.
I'm sure Dabo had his short list, but he couldn't start any aspect of the process until the Venables announcement was final.

to any staff changes right now.
It's the AD that has to stamp any hires the head coach requests and DR isn't likely dong his job at the moment or has already had his authority taken away.
Just speculation, but I am guessing that is a hurdle right now.

Dabo wouldn’t just sit around waiting for that.
If he needed to go to Clements, he’d go right to Clements in a heartbeat and would get help.

I agree. Clemson Prez is a huge Dabo supporter. DRad’s distractions won’t hold anything up when Dabo is ready to move.
