That fish is clearly within 6' of a person's hand and it is not wearing a mask. This might be the death penalty for the team.

Don't they know that handling spinnerbaits and crankbaits is the number one cause of covid infestation? Shooting jigs under dock legs is inviting tragedy. Covid lurks under docks and around brushpiles waiting for individuals or fish to move past before attacking. Bass are the worst anti-mask perpetrators. Crappies are generally compliant in meeting the quadruple mask requirement but the bass....they never follow rules. As Andy Griffith once said "Act like you've got some smarts."

Good on Auburn. Sadly, this is something students have to learn the hard way. Violated terms three different times. My guess, they could not quit "stupid". Three strikes... my guess the back to back violations this year have something to do with it.
The team violated the travel and events policy in July 2020, February 2021 and March 2021, the document states.
My brother (coach elsewhere) had to dismiss players from his team for breaking covid protocol. (freshman attended a large party). They risked the rest of the postseason for the upperclassmen for some "college experience".

Yeah you’re right. Good on Auburn for teaching these guys a lesson. We all know if you’re not wearing a mask while you’re fishing alone in a boat COVID will spontaneously combust in your face, out of nowhere, infecting and killing you instantly.
We all know that social distancing is a must, unless you’re on a plane or at a protest/riot or at a presidential celebration. COVID doesn’t work at those times.
We certainly all know, from scientific data, that even if you get vaccinated or have already been infected that you still need to wear three masks. We all know about the dozens of scientific studies that prove that.
And we all know for a fact how many healthy college aged kids have been severely affected and hospitalized by COVID. We all know it’s in the gazillions, right.
This is just unacceptable and thank you Auburn for reinforcing these unequivocal and unbreakable truths.

I don't think it was related to not wearing a mask on a bass boat. I don't expect this to be an issue of actual club/team competition events. I bet it was related to contact and behavior prior to travel... which is school supported. My guess, is that some extra-curricular activities supported/sttended by the team had a major party foul for the third time.
Considering they also completely dismissed the officers, this was a bigger issue. It was vetted by several levels of student-affairs admin. You don't get the Senior Vice President involved over masks.

The letter to the team would not detail specific conduct infractions by other club members. This would be a student conduct issue and thus not made public.
Per the Auburnt Code of Student Handbook.
Per the student social event policy:
Auburn University student organizations alleged to have violated this policy are subject to review through the Office of Student Conduct or referral to other applicable university disciplinary processes. If a student organization is accused of violating this policy, their actions will be assessed to determine the organization’s role in:1.Negligently allowing behavior. The student organization did not follow policies and procedures which could have prevented the violation;2.Condoning behavior. The student organization did not take steps to prevent the behavior, did not actively oppose the behavior, or has a culture of behavior that violates this policy; 3.Facilitating behavior. The student organization coordinated or was an active player in the violation. Any conduct outcome listed in the Code of Student Conduct or other applicable policies may be imposed upon individual students or a student organization found responsible for violating this policy. Depending on the violation and severity, conduct outcomes include but are not limited to warning, loss of privileges, educational sanctions, fines, or loss of university recognition.
Per the code of conduct:
"Hearings shall be private and confidential. The charging party and the charged party shall be allowed to attend the hearing (excluding deliberations which will be conducted in closed session), and shall have the right to have an advisor present throughout the hearing. Witnesses shall be present only when called upon by the Hearing Panel and will not be present during other portions of the hearing."

it could be wrong. My guess is some coed (or professor?) on a power trip decided to report an alleged offense.

No, I think it will be known - eventually. Considering we do NOT know leads me to think there are some bigger undercurrents (lol) lurking. I am kinda suprised that the Bass team has not show their hand unless its guilt members do NOT want it made public. The organization had both student and administration during whatever hearing they had. Actually as a club organization, they likely have a faculty advisor to boot. If my time in Long Hall in the BioSci program serves me true, they likely had a very favorable environment opverall. Again, they didn't have Auburnt senior VP sign off without some major issues at hand.
I bet this org had a much longer leash so to speak - but my bet is that they pulled a Danny Ford, defied - no, thumbed their noses at the administration and got yanked.
Consider it this way, imaging if the football team "violated team rules" and a huge chunk was dismissed. Similar principle here. It is just like when we beat the tar out of South Carolina twice on the same day and Tommy declined the bowls. Similar principle but I think this was a much, MUCH bigger issue that a few hotheaded moments smacking chickens with their cleats.

I think that has already happened to a degree. From Auburn's own policy and the way it was reported the organization is appealing, but because the student conduct is confidential, a blanked statement to the team is going to be thin.
The suspension of the organization happens after the hearings. Thus why they are appealing.
