I was selected to represent my high school for Boys State.

That year it was held there.
We were told to stay near and not leave the area.
My home was about 50 miles from that cess pool and understood why they advised that.

It was hot just as hot in 1987. We had wet towels draped over fans in the barrick quads just to sleep. Senator Hollings was popular then and seemed to enjoy meeting all the boys.

In 1978 I spent 2 weeks in the old Capstone dorm attending a Army Reserve School. Not bad digs for an Army Reserve Captain. Had a restaurant on the top floor if I remember correctly that turned 360 degrees at that time. I wonder if it is still being used. Go Tigers

I just spent a weekend their dorms with high school friend and if it hadn't been for the booze, it would have been unbearable.

It was interesting staying at the Citadel for a week. I could smell the hazing oozing from the walls.

I was also in Boy state. Congaree. We stayed at the citadel in 1976

I was at Boys State in the summer of 1960. We were at USC in their so-called honeycomb dorms. Unlike most of you kids, I don't remember much about the heat, but I am sure it was hot. My roommate was Jimmy Neal from Kershaw. We met again at Clemson a year later and continued our friendship. He was a great guy! Dummy me, I don't remember my city, but I was a senator. Boys State was a great experience for me.
My son went many years later.
