Given our lack of speed and playmakers on offense, is it

surprising or concerning that we only have 4 offensive commits for next year - a QB, a wideout and 2 O-linemen?

Chicken or the egg. The success of any offense or defense begins at the line of scrimmage. All the wiz bang of high flying talent gets stuffed when going against elite teams if you don’t control the line.

True, but we have 16 offensive linemen, only lose 1, and 13

are underclassmen, on scholarship.
Now we need some speed in the backfield and at wideout as our offense is not a plodding, methodical system built upon long time consuming drives.

Perhaps a reminder of the 2021 recruiting class and a reminder about current WR depth will help allay your concerns somewhat.
Troy Stellato (~ 6'1" and ~ 180 lb.) ... WR being redshirted. This isn't a Joseph Ngata / Mike Williams type of guy. He's a speed guy (we thought we had the luxury of RS'ing him ... probably too late to 'un-RS' him for a season in which Playoffs are not going to happen). Ohio State had him on campus for 2 visits; Alabama for 1 visit; Tennessee for 1 visit; Kentucky for 1 visit.
Brannon Spector (~ 6'1" and ~ 185 lb.) ... maybe not a true burner, but plenty quick. Surely knows the plays by now, and given that coaching staff isn't showing signs of desperation with respect to recruiting 'projects / reaches' at the slot receiver, I'm guessing that they like him. Not sure if he's injured or sick, but I suspect that the coaches are really expecting good things out of him as a slot receiver.
The 'bigger' WR recruit from Richmond, VA area is obviously a major target for this class, but he's not a slot receiver.
Oh yes, assuming that W.Shipley comes all the way back from his knee sprain, be assured that he'll be used out of the backfield as a 'speed' receiver (similar to what we did last year with T.Etienne) once DJ gets more comfortable with utilizing a broader variety of targets and once our O-Line finally gels.

I like Spector, but we haven't seen anything from him that

says he has the speed or playmaking ability that we need. Stellato looks like a carbon copy of Spector.

I do not agree with this at all. Brannon Spector is not fast at all (~4.6 40 yard dash), but he has okay lateral quickness, runs very nice routes (which we seem to struggle with this year), and has good hands (which we also struggle with). He's shown all of that. He's not a big play receiver, but he can get you the first down, which we saw a bit with Trevor last year.
Troy Stellato is extremely different, and you comparing the two shows you don't know what you're talking about. He runs a 4.37 40 yard dash, but wasn't really asked to run crisp routes at Cardinal Gibbons. He basically just ran slants and outs. He has potential explosiveness, as he's one of the fastest, if the not the fastest, players on the team.
