Tiger Rag

Clemson is certainly not the only school, or even the first, to choose the tiger as mascot. I'm just curious, does any other school have Tiger Rag as fight song?

Lol....I was at that Peach bowl where we played LSU. I did not notice they used Tiger Rag too. I guess I was too focused on that very stressful game.

They play the slow, 'correct' version of it

where we play a very fast version. It's almost unrecognizable unless you are paying attention

LSU plays an abbreviated version after they score and their fans spell out T-I-G-E-R-S... Tigers.

Their version is more jazzy as mentioned by other posters. I personally like they way they do it, but that said nothing better than our version in my opinion. Never heard Auburns version played at an actual game and I have been to the last 3 against them. Very possible I missed it though.

But they use several fight songs and j don't believe they use an entire verse like we do. I also love how we often use the Orange Bowl March as a lead in.

Not so obvious to me considering I had no idea it was a Dixieland jazz tune. But thanks for the information! +1

Saluda High School Tigers in Saluda,SC uses Tiger Rag as there fight song , but I am pretty sure a Clemson Band member brought it back home many years ago to this rural SC school

LSU plays their version of Tiger Rag at

about half the tempo of Tiger Band. Not sure how AU plays their version. If I'm not mistaken, we had Tiger Rah as the fight song prior to Tiger Rag and Speede pulled it out of the mothballs and slid it into the pregame show a few years back. It's the song when they go into the paw formation. Anyhow if my memory serves me, the guy who brought Tiger Rag to Clemson was a student back in like the 40's or something and he hitchhiked to a music store in Atlanta to find it. He was recognized at a game back in the late 80's or early 90's.

I think Princeton uses "Hold That Tiger" (or some form of it), which if I'm not mistaken, is fundamentally the same beat as Tiger Rag but different tempo, rhythym, etc. I'd imagine they were the first.
