For those wanting to head to Big 12....

Many people believe Clemson is poised for a "big season" in 2013....Would you rather stay in ACC through 2013 and take a run at undefeated in weaker ACC or go ahead and move to Big 12?
And yes, I know we still have the 2012 season, but we are definitely playing in the ACC this season so no question there.

I think you answered your own question. If our goal is to win a NC, why stay in a conference with a weak SOS / rpi?

The problem is that a big season in 2013's ACC will hurt us

from an SOS or even RPI (football probably going to an RPI with the new 4-team playoff) and we wouldn't make the playoff staying in the ACC. Also, it appears that there may be 4 power conferences (SEC, Big X11, Big Ten, PAC-12) that secure the playoff bids since automatic berths for the original six conferences will be done away with.

you're right but it would still be in the mind of the voters

so our position atop the polls will be hindered as well as the computer ranking after going through the ACC.

You were ok under the old system. If the BCS has an RPI/SOS component, Clemson may not have been ok even if it took care of business.

What do you think the Computer rankings are?

Do you think that the voters don't take into account who you play and who you beat? RPI is a good measure of comparing the 65th and 70th team in the NCAA basketball tournmanet, but I think any idiot can tell the difference between the 4th and 14th team.

Honestly get us the heck out of the ACC. We are third class citizens in the ACC now lets go to the big 12 and at least get some decent games and a some cash out of it.

Would we be able to play for a NC with the ACC's RPI?
May 14, 2012, 12:40 PM

Even if FSU bails now? How about if VT and NC State take a jump into the SEC?
Would it be possible to win a NC and not be able to do it from the Big 12?

Always the stepchild....
Never given respect in particular during Swofford power hold....
With BCS folding...our administration does need to secure avenues to keep us in the 64

Would you rather pay to go to Salem or Austin??

I think that is quite a large factor into the equation rather we like it or not. Fan support and travel costs are being dissected heavily I would assume.

As a student, I can drive to GT, FSU, UNC, Duke, NCST, FSU, VT, Wake, and Virginia. Even Maryland is driveable on fall break. That just leaves Miami and BC that students can't drive to. We join the Big 12 and that reverses to only having two games that we CAN drive to. Assuming Florida State and assuming students will drive anywhere on fall break.

"The ACC is weaker and therefore better for Clemson"
That is absurd. Want national respect? Play in a conference that immeadiately delivers that. Beating Duke, BC, Maryland, UNC, Wake Forest, and Syracuse only adds to the argument that you don't belong.
Want the program to regain national prominence? Beat teams that people think are better than you!!!

and everythign will take care of itself. Our problem isn't that we play the Dukes, BCs, Md, UNCs etc its that we have been regularly crapping the bed at least once a season against teams like that.

Swofford is not pulling Notre Dame...he's had ten years to do it and to no avail....
At this point the only way to save the ACC is for ND to come......it is all crumbling folks
