figures it would be Nancy Tate (and supposedly Miami as well---DRad the rat) that stabbed us in the back.
As far as I'm concerned, and it appears many others share this opinion, there is zero reason for Clemson to stay in the ACC. It's time for us to actively plan our departure. Adding two left coast teams is lunacy. A road trip to Berkeley IMO would be the rough equivalent of a road trip to a communist gulag in Siberia. Hard pass.

No. Not exactly. But it does give the ACC a life raft to maintain P5 status when Clemson/FSU/UNCheat leave. But the GOR remains. For now.

No, the GOR doesn't get renegotiated. The new schools are just required to sign.
The TV contract CAN be renegotiated, but ESPN isn't required to offer more money.

No it's like when you buy a house in a neighborhood that has an established HOA. You have to agree and abide to its bylaws when purchasing. It is whst it is. Now let's hope ww can get out sooner rather than later.

They are in survival mode. Adding Calford makes zero sense from a geographical standpoint. It's lunacy.

Deciding to leave and being able to leave are to different things. A lot of people are going to be disappointed when we are still in the ACC ten years from now.

Disappointed and surprised. Because if something miraculous (and unforeseen at this point) doesn't happen to bring a whole lot more money to the ACC, Clemson football will be irrelevant on the big stage. I'm pretty sure everybody at Clemson is keenly aware of that, and I have hope that somehow, some way, they won't let that happen.

They don't have the power to stop it. There are only two ways to solve the problem:
1) Join the Big Ten/SEC. 2) Get a new TV contract for the ACC
Those are literally the only two options, and no one at Clemson has the power to make either of those happen.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, nut you're sticking your head in the sand.
Clemson cannot get into the Big Ten or SEC unless they are invited. Clemson can't just go the the SEC/Big Ten offices, knock on the door and say, "We're home!" Graham Neff can't go in there and do some Jedi mind trick to get those leagues to accept us. The Big Ten/SEC are keenly aware of what they want, and will only invite us if if it's in their best interests. Nothing we say will convince them one way or the other.
As for the TV deal, it's obvious now ESPN isn't willing to agree to a significant increase that would be competitive with the Big Ten/SEC. Again, Jim Phillips can't go twist their arm.
Clemson is simply at the mercy of outside forces. I don't like it, but that's just the reality.

And I'm really not trying to give you a hard time either. You are simply saying, that based on what you (and we all) know, we are stuck because the current deal has us locked in. I totally get that. I'm just saying that if that's it, it is the end of Clemson football as a national power, and for any other ACC school, and I don't think those who stand to lose hundreds of millions because of it will just throw away decades of building and hard work and throw up their hands and say, "oh well, we're stuck" without a life or death fight. You and I have no idea what ideas and conversations and negotiations are taking place, but I am certain they are taking place, and yes, it could matter, a lot.

You don't think that FSU and CU are having third parties (IE lawyers) talk with both the SEC and Big10 about joining? I do.
Fox wants FSU and CU so they are telling the Big10 to get us. ESPN wants to keep Clemson and FSU but they would rather only pay they what they are currently paying in the ACC deal. I could see ESPN making concessions to allow us to go the SEC so they can keep both teams and still give them more money money than the ACC deal. As someone else mentioned, maybe while in the GOR we allow the ACC to air our home games and SEC to air the away games. Who knows, but I really think this move is just another domino falling that allows us to leave and not in 10 years IMHO.

I don't know. Neff must have some kind of Jedi powers to try to make folks believe we had an NCAA tournament team under Brad last year.

This was clearly a move to add teams to keep the acc afloat when Clemson fsu and unc leave… bc it def does not add any type of value whatsoever in football …

This is great news for us. The only thing the ACC cares about is avoiding a collapse like the PAC 12, this way they can keep their high paying jobs. This addition of teams will mitigate our departure. Today was a very good day! B1G or SEC we are ready for the invite, let's go!

The sad aspect of this, and I'm only guessing, is that Clemson was unable to leverage a yes vote for renegotiated GOR terms. Means nothing changed.

I’m just curious if the attorney who advised Clemson to sign this GOR contract is still on staff? They need to be fired along with anyone who pushed for a 15yr contract.
