I hate the saying "catch the ball at its highest point"

You catch it at YOUR highest point as you jump for the ball. The ball's highest point is halfway between you, the receiver, and the QB
|

I literally just said pretty much the same thing. You can't catch the ball at it's highest point if the ball is tumbling back towards Earth.

They should just say "He's really tall" or "he can really go

up and get it", because that's what they really mean. But when everybody and their brother is talking about "high pointing", it becomes monkey-see, monkey-do in the world of broadcasting, brains switched off.
