Announcer just said Chase’s jersey should hang in the rafters when it’s all said and done.
I personally lol to that

yes, he should. what he did in run for the Tigers last season in NCAAT with huge games will be legendary in few years. On the way to top 6 scorer for the Tigers.

Since all the other names in the rafters hasn't won a title if he does that need to rename Littlejohn after him.

He has been a much better teammate in the last two years— I have always seen him as a ball hog. He is now able to score and allow others to get involved. I believe that you have to consider that he has played 6 years and some of the earliest guys only had 3 & others had 4 or 5 years. Ultimately, I think he has been a very successful player, but not rafter material.

I don't think so, unless something magical happens the rest of the way.

i'd say he's in this second tier range:
Buckner Blossomgame KJ McDaniels Ed Scott Will Solomon Whitney
I would say he's borderline second tier from this crew: Campbell Davis Grant Rollins Nance McIntyre Booker Sharone Wright

group.
I will say his supporting cast is alot more complete than alot of those others with exception to the Elden/Davis team. That '90 Clemson team probably should've been our championship team. If i remember correctly we were in control of the UConn game until the end. Stinks we didn't' get a chance to flex in the tourney that year.

was the premier basketball conference in America hands down. We don’t have a player right now that could carry their jockstraps.

Yes, if you factor in his 6 year career here, his career points don’t wow you as much. He’s been a fantastic player for us, and turned into a very good college player. But he’s been outshone by even PJ Hall during his time here, who’s averaged more points per game over his time here. He is an above average passer and above average defender, too.
He deserves tons of praise for elevating his game in the tourney last year. We don’t get to the E8 without him. I would’ve considered him high 2nd tier if he was consistently dominant this year, which he hasn’t been over the last month, for whatever reason.

Kind of seems like you only see value in bigs. Think about all of our past guards when comparing Chase instead of bigs.
Honestly it seems like he is able to take a night off here and there to be ready for a big effort down the stretch. Pretty much a luxury for this team to keep winning by double digits while still giving guys some rest. I believe he will be huge again in the postseason if needed.

I had not been thinking about jersey retirement for Chase.

But he is a great player who has accomplished a lot here.
He was our most outstanding player in our Elite 8 run last year. That is historic for our program.
He will likely be first team All-ACC this year, and would only be the 17th player in our program's history to accomplish that.
He will also be the best player on a team that has our best ACC performance in program history.
Let's see how the rest of the season unfolds. If we win the ACC championship, and/or make another deep NCAA Tournament run that features him prominently, we could very well see his jersey hanging from the rafters one day.

The fact he's been here 6 years shouldn't diminish what he's accomplished. To me, it just makes him more deserving.
He's got a solid chance to be the third all time leading scorer in school history before he's finished. He's likely to end up with the most NCAAT wins in school history. He's the leader of what could end up going down as the best team in school history . . . The guy deserves a lot more respect than he gets. Chase Hunter is everything good about Brad Brownell's program and more broadly, Clemson athletics, in a nutshell.
Hang the man's jersey up for cyrin' out loud!

He's played more games and more minutes than anyone in Clemson basketball history. That should mean something. I'm grateful for all the time he's put in at Clemson and hope that others won't besmirch what he's done by saying it's only because he's been there so long. We should celebrate him even more because he's been there so long.
