Seems our QB thinks he is still playing high school football time to remind him he is not playing with high school talent on the other side of the line!!

Why does this coaching staff not instill and maintain that “greedy” will to win all off season and each and every week of practice? How do you let that slip?

you really think these guys have some wuss type practices followed by a "let's be gentle on our opponents and not hurt their self image"?? Seriously?? I would say they need to be meaner-not greedier. One leads to the other. Hard to get greedy if you don't have the "let's destroy these guys"...and don't call plays that don't work. He won't say it but there was a reason Klubnick did what he did. Dissing a coach isn't one of them.

CK2 is a class act - I believe he has a LOT more talent than Kyle Parker

…while that was an extremely bone-headed stunt that he pulled the other night, I wouldn’t relinquish him to the bench for the next game.
Although, if he had pulled that stunt in the 3rd quarter, I may have been seriously tempted to put in Helms for the rest of the game.

that's because he is more like him - you don't get Waton's and Lawrences every day. Mostly you get good college athletes who want to play and win. He just has to adjust to the new speed of the game which he is not doing as quicly as the two above did. They all have to adjust - do you remember what the coaches said about TL16 his first spring as he threw INT's to anyone who wanted one - "he has to learn that you can't make those throws at this level." So does Cade - it just not happening as quickly.. and I know, might be a good idea to hold onto the ball too!

What about focus on the fact that if we had not fumbled in the end zone with Shipley, they wouldn’t have gotten the ball back and then ran 80 yards for a touchdown on the very next play. That’s a 14 point swing. Had we not fumbled, there would’ve been no overtime.
A few BIG mistakes are costing us wins.

The coaching staff is focusing on fumble issues as far as talking about fumbles.
What specific coaching activities (ball security drills, etc.) are being done to reinforce the ‘don’t fumble’ message?
As for CK2 being responsible for 5 of our team’s total of 10 lost fumbles this year, remember that CK2 had yet another fumble that Shipley miraculously picked up and ran, limiting the lost yardage on the play to ~ 5 yards.
No one is blaming CK2 for the lost fumble scoop and score against FSU. Blind shots on the QB coming from an unblocked blitzer are hardly the QB’s fault if he fumbles. The other QB fumbles, however, are more than just concerning. They are an open wound gushing blood.
This ball security problem has got to get fixed. Come on, coaching staff!

The reason Shipley was there to pick up the ball was because he completely missed even getting a finger on the rusher on the play and was staring at his QB getting sacked.

I recognize there is a learning curve and we all learn at different levels and speeds. Maybe now, with some of the expectations lowered, we can play a little more relaxed and focused. I'm hoping we will take this opportunity to get some of our younger talent more reps and start to get them ready to play bigger roles next season.
I do hope we finish strong and get into a decent bowl game. Where and who we play is not as important as just getting that extra practice time to come together and gain more experience.
There is still a lot to play for even if most of our goals are beyond us. This season can still be a good setup for the one to come. If we can hold all of our recruits, we will have some great talent coming in that will really help shore up some of our talent gaps.
Still excited to see us finish strong and even more excited to see what is to come in 2024.
Go Tigers!

I think we can call Cade "Lil Dabo". A bunch of meaningless phrases. Let's see, All in, the Roy bus, etc etc etc. Now we are greedy! The only person I see that is greedy is Dabo, making about a million per game. Yeah, Dabo, "Only God could do that!!!". We have a LONG road ahead before we make it close to back to the top, if we ever get there. First thing is, fire every single ex football player that is on the coaching staff! Put some real coaches in place and not "family". I am sure a lot of them are nice guys, but being a nice guy doesn't mean you can coach.

Klubnik leads the college FBS stat on most lost fumbles. I did some research on Quartebaks and running backs that never fumbled. Cade take a look at Tiki Barber and Derrick Henry on how they protect the ball when running. Also for CJ Spiller, Garrett Riley and Dabo: Strenghten their hands to help hold onto the ball, pick up two flat weights with one hand holding the weights together.

I think only 1 of Cade's fumbles was on a run, IRC. His ball security has come from sacks, which is less about form and more about just God-given hand strength. There are some guys that get blindsided and are able to tuck the ball while being hit, and others like Cade that get hit and they immediately do a jazz hands and drop the ball

In spite of everything, I will always be a huge fan of Dabo Swinney. Clemson achieved greatness status for 10 or more years. It was a great run! I will never say Dabo is not appreciated. I just say…Thank you for the fun and hope we get back there again. Good luck Dabo…you certainly deserve it!

Cade sat there and took ownership of the mistake. He is also correct about looking at all of the mistakes from the game. I am hoping the team can shake off the loss and get a win against NC State. I also hope that Dabo is devising a plan on how to fix this mess when the season is over.

What makes this even more dumb is, it shouldn't even be going to OT! That's twice we let games go to OT that should've been won easily in regualtion. It's ridiculous how this team cannont finish games and lose all brain activity when they enter the REDZONE!

Agreed … miss a 30-yd FG in regulation that would have beaten FSU
…..fumble as you enter the end zone, Miami recovers and on the next play runs 80yd for a score and 14-point swing. Another “win it in regulation” missed opportunity.
Those TWO plays make us 4-3 instead of 6-1 ……

Dabo is really good at coaching what he’s good at, lofty expectations (albeit unearned) and stubbornness. The same lofty expectations pre season, the same ones we heard come out of this young man’s mouth post Duke when he said the NC game was still in reach, the same crap came out again after FSU about the ACCCG, et al! Some fans like Francis Marion® exhibit this stubbornness and cult like nonsense with Dabis gas lighting 98% or whatever. It’s as toxic as the water in Flint Michigan. It has us arguing when we truly are all United on the basics. Those basics are, this is a talented team, this is a great school, we have a coach that may have if I may, “gotten too big for his britches”

You are confusing stubbornness with objectivity

I have the latter. I also have reason, experience and perspective. I use these things, along with data, to evaluate points made here. Sometimes the results may support your stance, sometimes they may not, I don’t know. My goal is neither. Not to say you need any of those aforementioned things to have an opinion on the subject, but those are the tools in my bag.

Cade is right, he has to learn from these mistakes, and move forward. Hate it for the current team, but we have some growing pains. The last play he changed, probably would have worked in high school, but he is college is much faster. Another tough lesson.

I'm glad he mentioned the need to focus on the game as a whole because that's something a lot of fans need to do as well. Everybody always focuses on the last thing that maybe, possibly, could have won a game for their team. But that ignores the fact that the team is still in need of progress elsewhere. Does Shipley get in? Who knows. No ones opinion about that is anything but a guess no matter how strongly they feel about it. Do they then convert the two point play? Again, who knows. This isn't a championship caliber team no matter whether they beat Miami or not.
Line play was a problem and has been. Turnovers were a problem and have been. Play calling was a problem and has been. Riley seems like a guy who wants to run an offense he doesn't have the players to run it with and doesn't know how to do anything else. Reminds me of Chad Morris. Brilliant on paper but lacking when it comes to actually using the resources available. If you were dead set on a run play at the end then why call a shotgun handoff which takes things from 4th and inches to 4th and two yards, gives Miami an extra split second to read the play and hadn't worked worth a darn the whole game. And why Shipley? In that situation you need power and size and Mafa is the bigger and stronger guy.
But the bigger question is why are we talking about a last second game tying score that may or may not have happened? If not for the turnovers we're not in that situation. If not for the pressure we allowed we're not in that situation. If not for a lack of fundamentals in ball handling and decision making we're not in that situation. Miami did nothing special other than have some big and strong guys on their lines. Their offensive coordinator used his resources properly and their defense just kept us contained. Simple, disciplined and fundamental football. We can boast about our superior talent all day but we have to show it on game day and not just on the practice field. Heck, I'm a world class golfer on the driving range. Not so much on the course.

How do Klubnik’s mistakes - which have been costly - compare to the maturing of other Clemson qbs not named Watson or Lawrence, who were generational talent. I have an impression that DJU and Kelli Bryant were marginally better, based mostly on WL record. Klubnik legitimately beat out DJ for the job last season. I think you have to go back to Stout or Proctor to find a comparison. Curious about what long time Clemson watchers think about Klubnik and whether he is capable of leading this team back to national relevance. I fully realize it is a team game and the Tigers must improve in so many phases - OLine, WRs, Kicker, RB ball security, tackling. But Is Klubnik the guy? Forget this year. Let him play it out and learn from his mistakes. Seems like next year will be the big test.
