It would have happened next year or the year after. All Deion Sanders did was do it in 2023, make no bones about it, gave no apologies and let everyone listen in on everything he said in the locker room.
We live in a country that rewards innovation and results. The TP was going to eventually change CFB into annual unrestricted free agency and nothing was going to stop it. Coach Prime simply accelerated the process by 2-3 years.

Probably the only chance there is for regulation of any kind is when the upsets of the "pet" schools start to happen frequently. Even then, it will probably take an act of Congress. That doesn't sound great either.

When you take a college coaching job everyone on the team are “your kids” not just the ones you wanna bring in that are better. What are those guys doing now are they better off? Dabo woulda honored the committee those guys made to Colorado and then worked to improve the roster over time through recruiting.
How bout “his kids” he left behind at Jackson state. He sold them a load of krap about wanting to revive football at HBCUs then jumped at the first opportunity he had. I’ve got no problem with a guy taking a promotion but don’t tell a bunch of teenagers something in recruiting and then do the opposite

McCarver was being a ###### to Deion at the time.
I was in DV in '88 when Deion returned a punt for a TD against us in the puntrooskie game. I hated him then.
But when he played for Atl and the Braves, I got to see that while flashy, he isn't lazy or shallow and actually works hard to win, and his abilities were unreal.

He got the number one recruit in the country to go to Jackson State and then follow him to an irrelevant program in the middle of nowhere.

I don't think Deion has done anything against NCAA rules. He has done a great job with Colorado in terms of making them competitive. He has far exceeded by expectations of him on the field.
I was thinking more in terms of him, like the others I mentioned, seem to always want to make sure that the story is about them. They are the main character in the play. They continually remind people about the great job they are doing.

Do you have any evidence of him being all about himself? Here are a few quotes from before and after the Nebraska game. He seems to be more about his kids and the team than himself. He's mouthy so I understand he rubs some people the wrong away. Again though, Dabo is too. He's just a goofy white guy so he gets away with it.

I don’t hate Deon. Not a big fan of him either but he thinks outside of the box. He’s got a big jump on the new greedy college football transfer system and he’s taking advantage of it. This team is a Mish mash of talent that has yet to face adversity. When things get tough ( and they will ) then you can judge who they are, not when everything is champagne and roses. I fail to see many similarities.
I do believe the man has made an effort to turn his life around and I believe he now has good intentions. The thing I don’t like is his lack of humility. Confidence is great but his is a little over the top for me personally, but sure not going to hate on anyone if they decide to pull for him.

If you boil it down, absent the portal, Deion and Dabo are two peas in a pod. They both try to create an us vs the world mindset. They both have a boat load of borderline stupid sayings.
