It was not a tradition! It was an awesome hyped pregame which I witnessed in person.
Brought much negative attention to Clemson from all the press.
The pregame newer tradition of the buses bringing the players around to the hill and running down the hill is so more inspiring than 20 seconds of watching balloons disappear into the sky!

The balloons made the entrance even better than it is now. Children loved it. Many of us who are older loved them also. Are holographic balloons a possibility? I guess the expense of creating them could be too much.

Has anyone ever come forward with a dead turtle from the Upstate or North Georgia?
Regarding someone challenging this as tradition: How long do you think one has to do something in order to consider it a tradition? I remember blowing up balloons in the 80’s, so I know it was 20+ years.

I considered it a tradition along with the buses and the entrance. We have been releasing balloons for as long as I can remember until they found that orange balloon lodged in a turtles mouth out on Hartwell.
