Hate to admit it but I lost a little respect for Shipley

He may have had a valid concern/argument, but he handled it like a spoiled brat. Wait until half and talk to your position coach in the locker room. Doing that in public and on national tv is a terrible look. And to question the best running back in Clemson history to boot? Not smart.

I wish that his teammates on offense played with that kind of fire and edge.

I love his fire. But he handled this very poorly.

That's a take and that's fine. Mine is completely different. WHat are you expecting, perfect humans here? Paragons of virtue? This is a battle in front of us. In some ways, it's life in front of us, the same as our own lives. Some heated emotion is good, it's real, it's life. This is a "real" reality show, not a fake, canned thing. So a 20 y.o. gets hot at the coach, blows some steam. They're men, they'll work it out. Neither is a perfect human being. CJ is the adult in the room and he'll respond like a man and a coach, and it's just another coachable moment for Shipley. I'd rather see what I saw than just see things swept under the rug. I came from a dysfunctional family that pretended nothing was wrong, and that got us nowhere. Better to air it out sometimes than suppress it. Showing some "Italian" is OK. Rough moments happen in relationships, but they are an opp. to get stronger. They are both in the foxhole of a "war" and they are in the trench together. They'll have each other's back in the end. The resulting bond will be needed in the days ahead.

It does make me question the bond between coach and player. I don't know how much Ship really respects CJ. They will all come up with the right words and the right message but you wonder what really is going on behind the scenes. There is just too much chatter and clapping back going on with this team to make you feel like they are all on the same page.

Shipley is good once he breaks the line but he does not make his own hole very often. Like his fire but please, don’t act like a spoiled brat !

Type of behavior has become common place in both collegiate and pro sports...

but no amount of rationalizing and sugarcoating changes these 3 facts about the display: it was ¹disrespectful, ²showed a lack of discipline & self control, and ³with a modicum of restraint was avoidable—

I see your point but maybe Spiller isn't the greatest RB Clemson ever had but you are correct in what you are implying because it's debatable. We could also throw a few more into that category.

CJ has said and done some things that created drama and made RBs leave in the past and we have no reason to question Shipley's attitude or commitment. I am giving Ship the benefit of the doubt. If he wasn't right, Dabo would have shut him down quick.

What evidence do you have that CJ has said anything? Because a former running back left and has now been at multiple schools and still hasn’t played?
