I lived in the shoeboxes -> RA in Johnstone -> RA in McCabe. I always lived very close to fort hill so I saw it as a play on my location.
I do think it’s best to move forward with the new (old) names, but man, I didn’t think this account would have a chance of being seen as offensive/regressive back then!

I will still honor the man (John C Calhoun) for the good he did (many nationally elected positions) as well as allowing his Daughter Florine marry Thomas G Clemson..
and willing his estate to her..and her & Tom willing it to the State of SC so Clemson A&M College became an entity (with the deciding vote coming from bad guy Ben “Pitchfork” Tillman).
Saying, you don’t erase people or relatives entirely when they do wrong or evil..but you shouldn’t put them on a pedestal either.
Cause in point is the man wrongly killed in Mo; he was not a Saint by a long shot but is now a Saint due to his death.
