Reservations about Rodney

Jul 18, 2014, 2:51 PM

I like the idea of pulling a legend like RW into the booth. It should bring excitement to the fan base and make more people tune into the radio to listen to games.

However, I don't know how in tune he is with the game today. As far as I know he hasn't been involved in football in quite a while and with the different offense that Clemson runs as compared to what he ran I'm just not sure that he's going to be able to give meaningful insight.

Does something like this cause anyone else concern?

(And see, some of us jokesters can make meaningful football posts when there's something to talk about.)

truly. the question is, is he articulate enough

To relay that experience? Ever heard George Rogers try to comment on football? Makes Shannon Sharpe look like Earle Jones.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

With all his success, his highest salary was $25,000 a year. The president of the university, Dr. R. F. Poole, feared that professors who earned less would be upset. "He called me up and said that he didn't want me to tell anybody what I made," Howard once said. "I said: 'Doc, you don't have to worry. I'm as ashamed as you are of what you pay me.' He's replacing Will Merritt.

You do realize who some of the other color announcers are in football?

The car door slamming line is wonderful. He's announcing for CLEMSON. His job is not to be completely objective.

I can answer those concerns....Rodney has been a constant presence at Clemson's practice the last few years, and I get the feeling he has watched what Clemson does fairly closely. If that isn't enough, he has been the co-offensive coordinator at JL Mann High School here in Greenville and they have run the spread.

Thank you sir

Just didn't know how involved in football he'd been since the game changed so much.

I agree. He's a smart man....has made a pile of money in the real world....he's obviously no dummy. He knows football, loves the Tigers and can't stand chicken u. Perfect.

Williams. Terrific hire hands down!

The man managed to pick up a few different offenses

during his playing career. Something tells me he'll be able to figure out which side is which with the x's and o's.
