I am intrigued by the qb moves yesterday

I get pulling DJ and going with TP. But then why return to DJ? Was TP only in there to quiet critics? Were they trying to settle DJ down? It wasn't like DJ was hurt or anything. It was just a curious chain of events.

I think Dabo was just trying to see if the team got a spark. That throw downfield by TP was horrific. Unfortunately, I don't think Clemson has anyone good in that QB room this year

If they actually thought or wanted him to succeed they would’ve called something other than a QB run on 3rd and 10.

reflect on the shuttle pass. I don’t necessarily blame DJ. Pitt run blitz blew it up. I’ve heard it said they dominated us. Perhaps so. When we let them hang around when we should have been up 21-0, it was pretty much over. Wuda, shuda, cuda. That and a few bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Sitting him to reflect was a good move…

A move that should have been done earlier in the season ( for a series or two). It is evident that we need a more mobile QB and I thought it was a good change of pace. With that said, I agree with going back with DJ at the end since he is a (much better than #7) passer and we needed to move the ball down the field quicker.

I liked both changes. I do think that DJ is the better choice, but think that DJ could grow from getting a better perspective. I think that Taisun is the better runner and DJ is the bigger threat in the passing game. He has accuracy issues, but arm strength means that he can make some throws that Taisun simply can't make. When you are down 3 scores in the 4th quarter you have to gamble on the more explosive choice. Besides, you can't fault the decision. We scored a TD.

Dabo, Elliott, Streeter, et al. are trying to do something that works.

They currently have no answers.
As I’ve said before, they haven’t been in this situation at Clemson. They don’t know how to fix it, short of recruiting more super elite talent to overcome schematic/coaching deficiencies.

This is what happens when you whiff on both of your QBs. We have two guys who shouldn't be starting on any team in the country.

DJ is our best QB. In spite of all of his struggles, his

flubs and shortcomings, he still gives us the best chance to win. I think they sat DJ yesterday for a couple of reasons, non of which had anything to do with appeasing fans. First, DJ has to know that there is accountability, and that even though he is the most talented guy, he still has to perform at a certain level. He was too careless with the ball on that shovel pass, he was struggling overall, and he needed to watch from the sidelines to be reminded that he has to perform, plus to give him a chance to settle down and refocus. I like Taisun Phommachanh, I think he can be a valuable member of this team, and may see meaningful reps before it's all said and done, but I think we saw how the offense is even more limited with him in there. While the passing game has been poor and erratic under DJ, it can be even less effective, believe it or not. I know people don't want to hear that, but it's the truth.

High quality post here. Agree with all of it, especially the accountability part. I’ve wondered this season how our lack of depth has impacted starters’ focus and play on the field. QB, OL. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that while we don’t have depth in #s at RB anymore, the quality is there in the top 3. How many of these guys know, Clemson doesn’t use the portal, I got my spot, and they’re not quite as sharp because of it.

^^^^^^^^^ Agree with both posts. Right now I would like to say we are just an average team, but in reality we are not even that good, at least offensively and I think our lack of offense has really affected out D. I don't think it is too harsh to say that this year has been a terrible coaching job as well as poor player performance ..... maybe both go hand in hand. That is not to say that we need a coaching change or otherwise imply that out staff can't coach. We know they can, but I think even they would admit that the job they have done has been lackluster to say the least. I know they are searching for answers.
I am particularly concerned with the mental errors, and some other errors that I think come with frustration. I am concerned with pass drops (lack of concentration), route running, and particularly lack of blocking from our receivers. It could be coaching, I guess, but have a hard time believing that Coach Grisham doesn't stress blocking during practice. I am sure that Dabo and the staff are searching for answers ..... none of which they have found so far.
Personally, I think it is a sort of complacency that none of them realize had set in. You can say all the right things, and even do all the right things, but it is there and is not erased just by going through the actions like you have done before.
