HA. Nothing worse than someone nuking popcorn at work other than maybe their frozen meal. Ahhh the smell of nuking preservatives and chemicals.

I get it, because there's a ton of Catholics in the world, but its really wild to me that the entire world gets minute by minute updates on the color of smoke for a man for a church. He's a man. Just a guy. Yes, the leader of the church, I understand. But its borderline worship to me. Wish people got this excited over God as they do the middle man.

I agree with that but why is there no coverage of other denominations changes. This is really over the top with all networks spending hours on this. The Pope position is critical to Catholics but not so much to people of other denominations. Am I wrong ?

Because it's vitally important to the LGBTQA+*_Z agenda right now. Media all hoping they pick another non-Catholic pope again. Someone as Catholic as Pelosi or Biden.

Protestant denominations dont really have a pope equivalent

Right? And I don’t know the process behind Muslim imams.
I feel like this is the only remaining case of one leader of a whole religion in the modern world. And it dates back with a longer timeline than the lineage of any current royal throne. Over 2,000 years. Only the imperial house of Japan comes relatively close with 1,500 years of age.

LMAO, it does seem like political leaders in recent decades have risen to the level of idolatry in several cases. They’re all just men full of imperfections, fit for an imperfect world.

Across many political leaders. Including this new pope. It’s getting more attention than normal. And more adulation fron Catholics than I recall before.
Many of the people in the St Peters crowd they showed were in tears and such.

I don't really think so. The world sitting around waiting on different colored smoke really does seem very archaic to me. In fact, the adherence to traditions for the sake of traditions are one of the turnoffs of Catholicism to me. I really do mean no offense at all. Just seems like the Catholics I know are more obsessed with window dressing than the actual meat and potatoes so to say. My experience with the catholic church myself was 100% about control. The Priest was absolutely floored when he told me I wouldn't have the dioceses blessing if I didn't agree to raise my children catholic. I told him I wasn't interested in the churches blessing. I was interested in God's, and my child will know God. He about fell out of his chair.

I agree with some of that

However many protestants who critique the catholics for that then go off to a mega chruch that resembles a stadium more than a church and has way more window dressing with music and pizzazz than many catholic churches do.

Definitely don't agree with that whatsoever. Praise worship isn't window dressing to me, because people know what and why they're doing it. Now when you see some mega church in Texas and the pastor is flying around the air singing sure. But window dressing to me is when you're reciting the same exact Latin every mass and when you ask anyone what it is, means, or why they do it they have no clue. Like the sermons. The ones I've heard in mass aren't sermons at all. Just a scripture reading basically. We can all do that at home.

American selected due to "America's predominance" globally, thoughts I believed patently unfair.
When the new Pope was announced, I said to friends, "Just desserts for the know-it-alls in the media."
Though not a Catholic, I have respect for others attitudes and/or practices about religion. The selection of a new Pope is an historical one, steeped in ritual and tradition, with millions of followers worldwide keenly attuned. That is their right and none of mine to criticize. Thus, the tears of joy I saw were from those deeply rooted in their faith, as proscribed by the Catholic Church. I am happy for the members of the church that the leadership has now been renewed.

"Moments before the white smoke, seagulls were stealing the show during papal conclave."
Important stuff.
