My brother-in-law has been hospitalized and not doing well. Heart rate has sky rocketed, blood pressure dropped, just to name a couple of things. This man has been an IPTAY member for well over 50 years, and attended games around the ACC and others. Never missed any games at Clemson until last season when health started to fail. Leaving soon to be with my sister.

You can t-mail me if I can be of any help. I'm 10+ year critical care RN. I'm out of the country, but I'll do my best.
High HR and low bp can happen from several things, but a couple are treated super easily.
1. High hr as the driver would mean less time for ventricular filling, equals less blood per heart beat, equals low bp. Give the appropriate med to slow down hr and the bp goes up. Easy fix.
2. Low bp as driver is trickier. Heart would beat faster to compensate and try to get more blood pumped to meet lower bp. Could be just needs some IV fluids from dehydration. Could be dynamic phase of sepsis/ infection response.. still IV fluids plus antibiotics.
Assuming heart was in decent shape before, should be treatable.

Praying for you and certainly not a doc but based on the above response I’ll pray it’s just afib and don’t have any clots yet. Best scenario you could have and very treatable. Will pray it’s that easy.

I hope they find out what is causing his symptoms and can treat and cure him very soon. My Brother-in-Law suffered an unimaginable tragedy about two months ago, so I know how these things can effect the whole family. I’m just getting back to where I can think & talk about football. It’s just a game, and we’re all rivals but we’re also all people. Stay strong, hug your sister, tell your kids you love them (he is their uncle, after all), and most importantly let your B-I-L know everyone is there for him and you’ll get through it together.
