ESPN is on the verge of ruining this also. Only CBS for the Masters from now on. I’ll gladly give up extra hours of coverage to not have to listen to them.

That’s exactly what I did. Enjoyed it so much better. My daughter watched more on ESPN and I looked in while talking with her. All of their on air personalities seem to have a segment. I kept expecting to have Gameday’s Pat McAfee show up.

Do what I did about 10 years ago. Drop cable (ESPN). Watch Tigers at a friends place, listen to good music the rest of the time.

I think NBC has done more to ruin coverage than ESPN. But the problem I have with all of them is that most announcers won't shut up and just let the picture tell the story. I really don't need Trevor Immelmann, Azinger or the like to tell how me important or how difficult each shot is.
The back nine at Augusta is perfect in that the opportunity for drama exists. Does it always happen, no. But the opportunities are there (whether they take them or not. Re: Hoch in 1993). That was really the impetus for the length added to 13. Put the player in a position where they have to choose. With that kind of drama built in, the coverage should be aware of that and stop saying it every 5 minutes.
With that said, Tell Immelmann to shut up. Please. CBS should give Dottie Pepper more to do. She understands what's going on and is very good at articulating it. There were a couple of times where I thought she and Immelmann were trying to see who had the last word before a shot was executed.
A lot of CBS's coverage has become trite and a little sappy. But here's the thing. They'll do whatever the green jackets want them to do. They dare not change anything lest they risk losing the whole thing. So it is what it is.
