How weak is B1G?

How come no one asked that question during the game last night? Indiana dominated the "bottom end" of the conference. Well they dominated those teams far better than Ohio State or Penn State or Oregon did. But, no one asked, "Is the B1G a weak conference?" Nope. Everybody talked about how much stronger the SEC and B1G are than the Big 12 or ACC. If ND had dominated SMU or Clemson like that the talk point would be, "Well, we always knew the ACC was a weak conference."
As I tell people when having a debate or discussion with anyone, find out what their premises are. Their conclusion will always agree with their premise. If the premises are invalid, then here is no reason to accept their conclusion.
Premise: B1G is a strong conference, far superior to every conference other than SEC. Conclusion: Notre Dame is a powerhouse. They dominated a top level B1G team.

ND has a good coach. Would love to have him if Dabo decided to leave. Very solid on both sides of the ball.
Their kicking game seemed to be worse than ours from what the announcers were saying last night. Which was surprising.

To me, the Big Ten has ALWAYS been just the Big Two. You have your Wisconsins,

and others who may win 8 or 9 games now and then, but are never serious Championship contenders. When Meechigan ain't good, it's just Ohio State and a bunch of also rans. I don't even count Penn State, they will NEVER win the Big One as long as James Franklin is there. I think they get bounced out of this tournament TODAY.

Yea it’s currently OSU and Oregon. Like 76er stated the other teams are good for 2-3 losses every year.
Michigan being good definitely helps the conference tremendously. Still cannot figure out how they beat OSU.

while watching Indiana struggle to do anything against Notre Dame after averaging something like 40 points/game.
But I came to the conclusion that on any given day, anyone can win. Like never before, parity-via-portal is the compound adjective of the day in college football.
Conferences are a construct.
And Notre Dame will once again be shown to be nothing more than the noise it makes.

It’s a stupid narrative to assign strength to an entire conference. Always has been always will be. Assess individual teams based on their results only.
