How to use Darden?

I’ve seen some say they don’t want Darden to pitch. While I don’t believe he should start I do believe Darden will play a crucial role in this regional. I believe the proper use for him might be against USC upstate. Titsworth or Bell would likely get the start but could see Darden called on first out of the pen. And if he can go 2-3 in that game against usc upstate. Then we save crucial pitching to use against West Virginia or Kentucky. I feel Darden adds a boost to the bullpen going into regionals.

If needed, 20 to 30 pitches or 3 outs, whatever comes first. Then as he gets back in shape, ONLY once through the lineup until he proves he's ready.

I did see a few errors behind him this year and some pitchers struggle throwing 25+ pitches per inning. Don't put him in that situation.

I definitely want to see what he looks like...maybe if we can get a comfortable lead against Upstate give him some innings or another game? I just don't trust him yet in a tight situation until I see what he looks like.

Darden is possibly a mid week starter but not a factor against top tier competition.

It’s best not to consider the possibility of him pitching


Against any level of team, make sure we’re up by a million before Darden gets to come in

USCU feasts when they hit the ball, I don't know if Darden is the best choice for his style of pitching. Opponent contact rate of 73% doesn't bode well against a team whose entire strategy is to murder the ball. Maybe Kentucky would be better, but SEC teams are always tough outs. He also has the worst HR/9 of any starter, and he hasn't pitched in a month and a half, I'd be wary putting him in in any situation where a team is in striking distance.
