Jimbo Fisher has been offered the LSU head coaching position according to Charlie Hanagriff who has a weekday radio show in Baton Rouge. Hanagriff describes the offer as “an extremely substantial one”.

How can LA afford this?

How does a state school from a nearly bankrupt state pay in excess of $6M to a football coach on top of a $5M buyout for Jimbo, and $10M for Les Miles buyout? I guess we know where every dime in LA is.

Which begs the question: Why on earth did we give Tommy Bowden an extension, and pay him millions after he left? Honestly, I'm embarrassed to talk about any other school and how stupid they are when we've made idiotic decisions like that. We now live in a huge glass house and should no longer throw stones regarding salaries that other schools pay/offer.

Football program is certainly not lacking in funds as their revenue comes from ticket sales, concessions, alumni support and Booster funding.
If Les Miles finds another coaching gig (in which he made very clear at the Michigan game this past weekend that he's wanting to get back into coaching immediately), they do NOT have to pay full amount owed in contract stipulation. Same situation with Charlie Strong.
Jimbo likely won't go because he's got it made at FSU. Besides, Joe Alleva at LSU has proven they have NO idea how to handle tough situations.
Possible Charlie Strong could end up at LSU.

I don't get how this is amusing to you. As a married man I'm not going to talk about what goes on in anyone's marriage because that could happen to anybody. This isn't a video game. Real people with real lives and kids involved. I don't wish those problems on anybody.

No real surprise here, question is...Does he accept? I think LSU gets it done this time (Fisher)
Then, what about Texas...do they get Herman, I think so!
Notre Dame, changes coming? What about Oregon?

If I'm Jimbo, I will listen to the offer, get the $ amount, and then go tell my boss that I would have to consider it, for the financial future of my family. Then sit back and wait for the counter. Then I would keep my butt right there in Tally. Why would he want to go to LSU? We joke, but the SEC West is tough, with 3 teams usually in the running for the Division most years, and several who can knock you off any week ( example: Arky). In the ACC, it's a two horse race 18 out of 20 years. Throw in the stress from those boosters, who loved him as the QB on the bench so to speak, but when he has to be the guy, the heat will fall on him when they stumble. At Tally he has top 5 classes every, let me repeat, EVERY year. So talent would be going backward imo. Throw in a lot of young talent on that squad who took some lumps this year, but grew, and his Bell Biv Devoe QB with his lips neck tat... I will give him this, the kid is TOUGH, and will be really good next year. Yeah... Thanks for getting me the pay raise LSU, but I'm staying in Tally.

Agree on everything except the talent part. LSU can

recruit with pretty much anyone in the country. They have a complete monopoly on a very talent rich state and easy access to eastern Texas. Louisiana isn't Florida, Texas, or California, but I'd say it's right there with Georgia and maybe one or two others at the top of the second tier in terms of producing D1 caliber players.
I can only think of maybe 4 schools that can recruit at a level above LSU (assuming the right coaches are in place), and those are USC, Bama, Texas, and Ohio State. I think LSU is FSUs equal in terms of recruiting potential. You still need a good coach that can max out that recruiting potential though - at any of these schools. Sure Bama, USC, and Ohio State are always going to recruit well, but look what happens when they get a Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, or Pete Carroll type in there. It's #1 or #2 classes every single year.
TLDR: I think Jimbo could recruit just as well at LSU

Their recruiting has been great while UF and Miami were dumpster fire programs. They won't recruit as well going forward with Richt and McElwain bringing those programs back. FSU has lost 2 in a row to Clemson and get them on the road next year. Louisville is up and coming. Good time to jump and get a 4-5 year new lease from LSU. He'll own LA and a good bit of East Texas, and the only team to worry about in the SEC West is Bama. Saban won't be there much longer, as he'll retire in a few years.

of playing in the biggest sandbox around, so to speak. He already has a Natty at FSU, so, getting one from the SECheat route may be next on the wish list. ACC IS getting tougher, after all.

It's no longer the biggest sandbox, just the one that e#ecpn keeps throwing its money in to.
