Houston could have gotten a two-for-one possession in the final minute

The whole last minute was a disaster. You go fast to a) preserve time when down by one b) get a two-for-one c) allow Houston to play out Florida’s final possession instead of fouling.

In my opinion this failure is even worse than not getting a shot off as time expires. Just a complete debacle that a basic understanding of clock management could have made a world of difference.

I’d expect middle school coaches to understand this basic concept to leverage the clock in your favor in the final minute of any half. CBB never gets it, and clearly Sampson isn’t any more aware than CBB.

What middle school do you coach at again?

Middle school must be the furthest you made it if your point is my opinion

is not valid b/c I am not doing so from a position of authority. Is the argument correct or no? You’re just embarrassing yourself with your attempt at dunking on me.

That's debatable, but it was definitely poorly managed.

Their last 4 possession ended in turnovers that's what cost them the game period

Houston played their game. Going fast to get a 2:1 isn't their style. They have the best defense in the country and were willing to ride that till the end. Get the best shot you can get, then go play D.

The final possession was a mess though. They waited too long to go, and Florida was dead-set on defending the 3.

their final 4 possessions were a mess, turnovers and no shot attempts at all on the last 3-4 trips down on offense. When they saw florida was going to deny the three they should have called the last timeout
and set up something. I think that Kelvin Sampson is a really good coach but he went full Brad Brownell in the last 4 possessions.

Houston got sloppy in the last few minutes. You can credit Floridas D or say the Cougars choked. Florida was losing the whole game and rose to the occasion.

honestly were lucky to be there, shouldn't have beaten Duke..

Duke just went brain-dead late and Houston did everything right. Duke turned it over on an inbounds play, missed key free throws that woudl have iced it, and the best college basketball player in the country opted for a fade away that he missed in most crucial possession of the game. All this happened in less than a minute. Not to mention a bad call on Cooper Flagg for over the back that gifted Houston 2 points on free throws. It was really hard to believe they could choke that one away.
