Maybe he can move into the 3rd round with an exceptional combine performance where he posts off the chart explosive numbers, which isn't impossible for him (ie. sub 4.5/ 40yd, 40+ inch vertical, etc. while maintaining a weight of at least 230 lbs). Despite his reputation, I don't believe his tape will warrant a higher draft range than the 4th or 5th rd. Tackling just isn't his strength. It's hard to draft a LB high, if he isn't a good tackler.

How is this a Hot Take? Carter has tackling issues, the combine will help him but he will be lucky to go by 5th round.

It's not just about what you've done but what teams think you can do. Wes Goodwin really did not do any of the LBers justice. Carter as well as the other backers regressed under him. Can't coach speed and quickness and if a team believes they can coach him up I can see 4th or 5th. The talent is there, period. Just didn't have the right guy to teach them.

Trotter fell because of his combine results but if Carter has a great combine I could see him being a second day selection.

the Panthers will probably trade further up in the 1st round to select him which would follow their absurd draft methodology all the way back to wasting the 7th pick overall on a RB(CMC)..oh
wait a minute, I forgot about their clandestine conspiracy to boycott the selection of any former Clemson player(smh)
