Do you have to "retire" if you never played in a game?***

Yeah if you don't want to practice and get paid.

He got paid. Injured and rehab doesn’t mean he didn’t draw his base salary. So, yeah. He can retire from a job he got paid for. Even if he never played. He earned just shy of $800 from the Jets last season. Plus about $5 mil his senior year at FSU and $4 his junior year. If he’s smart, he’s set. If he has a Lambo, and a million dollar necklace, he’s in trouble.

He should go to Costco, they have good deals on tires.

That is the only "retire" I could possibly think of that would apply to him.

Sad to see. That injury was horrible. Seemed like a great guy. Good luck.

His leg injury was severe.

He was never able to fully rehab it.

Speculation is the insurance he had (protecting him from future loss of income, which most college athletes have) requires he "retire" by a certain date in order to collect that income. I have no way of knowing whether that speculation is accurate or not.

Many FSU fans are pleading that Norvell hire him immediately (as a GA) and bring him on campus to coach the QBs.

It reads like J.Travis is smart and well educated or getting good advice - or both.

It takes smarts to suppress ego and make the best use of a ‘we pay you very well, but only if you really retire’ insurance policy.

I hate it for pro FB that Jordan Travis won’t be showing his stuff to NFL fans. There is still an under representation of class guys who are really good QBs in the NFL.
