South Carolina Highway 33 is a 19.4-mile-long state highway that runs from the south end at US 301/US 601/SC 4 in Orangeburg to the north end at SC 267 near Lone Star and Lake Marion, going through Cameron. Woody Dantzler and Bill Spiers are from Orangeburg.

Ten miles southeast of Lone Star next to Santee, South Carolina is Santee State Park. The 2,500-acre park sits just off SC 6 on 110,000-acre Lake Marion. It was created in 1942 on land donated by Orangeburg County. The park has hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, birdwatching, boating with 2 boat ramps, and fishing for bass, catfish, trout, perch, crappie, and bream. Two campgrounds have 158 campsites, many of which accommodate RVs. There are also 30 2 bedroom/1 bath cabins, 20 on the lakeshore and 10 on a pier over the lake. There are 3 hiking trails and 1 bike trail for 10 miles of hiking and biking. There is also a park store with a wi-fi lounge. And the Village Round accommodates up to 75 people with a screened-in grilling facility. The fishing pier at sunrise or sunset is reportedly an awesome sight.

33 - Maxcey Welch Holds Clemson Single Game Scoring Record at 33

Clemson RB Maxcey Welch played for Clemson in the early 1930s. Welch holds the Clemson single game scoring record and single game rushing touchdown game. Finding information on Welch’s accomplishments, however, has been a challenge for me. Clearly, we did not document records almost a century ago as we do now. According to ClemsonTigers.com:

Oct. 17, 1930 – Maxcey Welch scored five touchdowns (all rushing) in Clemson’s 75-0 win over Newberry. Welch and Stumpy Banks are the co-holders of that Clemson touchdown scoring record.”

“Scoring

Clemson does not list single-game scoring leaders in its football media guide. Its officially recognized single-game scoring record is 33 points, set by Maxcey Welch in a 1930 game against Newberry. This is one of the very few "old-time" records that the program acknowledges.”

Unlike the "Total touchdowns" lists in the "Total offense" section, these lists count touchdowns scored. Accordingly, these lists include rushing, receiving, and return touchdowns, but not passing touchdowns.

As in the case of the single-game scoring record, Clemson does not publish an all-time list of top performances for single-game touchdowns. As in the case of single-game points, the school's officially recognized record in this category comes from the "pre-modern" era. The aforementioned Maxcey Welch scored 5 touchdowns (all rushing) as part of his record 33-point performance against Newberry in 1930; this equaled Stumpy Banks' performance of 5 rushing touchdowns in a 1917 game against Furman.”
