In 3 seasons (2012-2014) P/K Bradley Pinion punted for over 5,700 yards (that is over three miles) in 140 punts! According to excerpts from Pinion’s bio on ClemsonTigers.com:
Started at punter and as a kickoff specialist in 2013 and 2014 … had a 41.1-yard average and 39.2-yard net average on 140 punts in 34 games (25 starts) in his career … had 55 punts inside the 20 with only two touchbacks; punted 102 times without a touchback (with 42 inside the 20) before his first touchback in 2014 … finished seventh in school history in punting average.
2014: Had a 42.6-yard average and 40.3-yard net average on 75 punts in 13 games (12 starts) … had 28 punts inside the 20 with only two touchbacks … first in school history in punts inside the 20 and sixth in net punting average … fifth in the ACC in yards per punt … 2013: Had a 39.4-yard average and 37.8-yard net average on 56 punts in 13 games (13 starts) … had 24 punts inside the 20 without a touchback … tied for second in school history in punts inside the 20 … 2012: Had a 39.4-yard average on nine punts along with three punts inside the 20, one punt of 50+ yards and a 38.8-yard net average in eight games … had 26 kickoffs, including 18 touchbacks and three other kickoffs that reached the goal line … had one special teams tackle
After Clemson:
The San Francisco 49ers selected Bradley Pinion with the 165th Pick (5th Round) of the 2015 NFL Draft. He has played in the NFL ever since. In his nine NFL season so far, Pinion has played for the San Francisco’s 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta Falcons (his current team). According to Pro-FootballReference.com, he has registered the following NFL stats:
- 686 Kick offs for 44,305 Yards (64.6 Average) - 639 Punts for 28,295 Yards (44,3 Average)
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PiniBr00.htm?__hstc=213859787.3d001a10b93825f88abb0a30c52de13c.1704338445925.1712887805701.1712891321417.211&__hssc=213859787.6.1712891321417&__hsfp=851621926
Of note: The 28,295 punt yardage and the 44,305 kickoff yardage represents 41.25 miles collectively.
According to TigerNet (from May 2022), Pinion also gives back to the community:
“One of Clemson’s best showed up at Clemson Elementary Saturday afternoon, giving back to a community that he feels like sometimes gets overlooked.
Bradley Pinion, the Super Bowl champion who played for Clemson from 2012-2014, hosted the Touchback to Giveback Saturday, Pinion, along with his wife Kaeleigh and Convoy of Hope, gave away shoes, socks, groceries, school supplies, haircuts, and hot meals to kids at the school under sunny skies at the school.
Pinion wasn’t alone - Clemson football players like KJ Henry, Jake Briningstool, and BT Potter were there to help, along with the legendary Jeff Davis, National Championship soccer player Isaiah Reed, and even Carla “Momma” Boyd. … Pinion planned for 1000 kids and there was a huge turnout, with Pinion running around making sure everything was running smooth.
“It means the world to me because like I said, without the Clemson fans and without those that have supported the NFL, it’s just a game we’re playing, right?”

Morning All! Acknowledging a mea culpa! I made a mistake yesterday. I meant to post two posts related to the Number 141 – one post on Tony Steward and one post on Chansi Stucky. I mistakenly posted the wrong posts. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize the mistake until late in the afternoon/early evening. If anyone is interested, I here is the post on Chansi Stuckey that was intended for yesterday today. TNet, please accept my apologies!
Chasi Stuckey has long been a fan favorite among Clemson fans. Very dynamic player for sure!
At Clemson:
QB/WR Chansi Stuckey (20023-2006) began his Clemson career as a QB, backing up Charlie Whitehurst. He switched to WR before the 2004 season and excelled! SI.com provides the following stats on Chansi Stuckey while at Clemson:
Initially a quarterback, Stuckey threw 21 passes as a redshirt freshman in 2003 before moving to wide receiver. He led Clemson in catches and receiving yards in 2005 and 2006, and he tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns each season.
Stuckey hauled in 64 passes for 770 yards and three scores in 2005 and 50 passes for 700 yards and four touchdowns in 2006 while playing just 10 games. Stuckey was Clemson's punt returner in 2005, returning 27 punts, including a 46-yard return for a touchdown in a 25-24 win over 17th-ranked Texas A&M.
His best game came in 2005 when he hauled in 11 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-14 win over 17th-ranked Florida State. Stuckey scored on catches of 22 and 32 yards in the victory. He capped off his career with 5 catches for 93 yards in a Music City Bowl loss to Kentucky.
Stuckey's position coach at Clemson was Dabo Swinney.
https://www.si.com/college/notredame/football/notre-dame-football-coaching-profile-chansi-stuckey-wide-receivers
According to Sports-Reference.com he registered the following statistics at Clemson:
2003 (QB) - 11 Completions for 97 Yards - 2 Passing Touchdowns - 2 Receptions for 10 Yards (5.0 Average) - 17 Carries for 136 Yards (8.0 Average) - 2 Rushing Touchdowns
2004 (WR) - 25 Receptions for 280 Yards (11.2 Average) - 10 Carries for 13 Yards (1.3 Average) - 4 Punt Return for 30 Yards (7.5 Average) - 1 Kick Return for 17 Yards (17.0 Average)
2005 (WR) - 64 Receptions for 770 Yards (12.0 Average) - 4 Receiving Touchdowns - 13 Carries for 78 Yards (6.0 Average) - 27 Punt Returns for 199 Yards (7.4 Average) - 1 Punt Return Touchdown
2006 (WR) - 50 Receptions for 700 Yards (14.0 Average) - 8 Carries for 34 Yards (4.3 Average) - 3 Receiving Touchdowns
Clemson Career (2003-2006): - 11 Completions for 97 Yards - 2 Passing Touchdowns
- 141 Receptions for 1760 Yards (12.5 Average) - 7 Receiving Touchdowns - 48 Carries for 261 Yards (5.4 Average) - 2 Rushing Touchdowns - 31 Punt Returns for 229 Yards (7.4 Average) - 1 Punt Return Touchdown
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/chansi-stuckey-1.html
ClemsonTigers.com added the following information:
Stuckey graduated from Clemson in 2006 after a stellar career in which he became the first Clemson player since the forties to score a Touchdown via pass, rush, punt return and reception and first since 1971 to earn All-ACC honors in consecutive seasons. He was also the first player in Clemson history to post consecutive games with multiple touchdown receptions.

In addition to his dynamic play on the field, Clemson student Chansi Stuckey also served as a student intern in the Sports Information office. According to ClemsonTigers.com, Tim Bourret described student intern Stuckey as follows:
I knew Stuckey would be successful regardless of his career path just by the way he interacted with the other student assistants in our office. He was inquisitive about the job and he was not going through the motions for course credit.
“I learned a lot,” said Stuckey. “I didn’t know anything about sports information when I started. I thought all that information came out of thin air. I saw a lot of work by many people involved.”
https://clemsontigers.com/chansi-stuckey-2023-program-story/
After Clemson:
The NY Jets selected Chansi Stuckey with Pick 235 (7th Round) of the 2007 NFL Draft. Chansi Stuckey played 4 seasons in the NFL (2008-2011) for the NY Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, and Arizona Cardinals. According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, Stuckey registered the following NFL stats:
Chansi Stuckey (2008-2011): - 55 NFL Games Played - 106 Receptions for 1062 Yards (10.0 Average) - 5 Receiving Touchdowns - 6 Rushes for 16 Yards (2.7 Average) - 1 Rushing Touchdown - 2 Punt Returns for 5 Yards (2.5 Average)
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StucCh20.htm
Tim Bourret’s article on ClemsonTigers.com (above) also provided information on Stuckey after his NFL playing days:
“After his playing days were over, Stuckey moved to California and searched for his next calling. He spent time with former Clemson teammate Jock McKissic, who was a television actor. Stuckey spent some time in that profession as well.
His life path changed in January 2019, and his alma mater’s success on the gridiron had a lot to do with it.
“I was living in California and Clemson was in the national championship game against Alabama in Santa Clara. Jock and I decided to go to the game and we met with Coach Swinney.
“Coach Swinney brought us in to meet the team and all the families. I had not thought about going into coaching at that point, but meeting those players and seeing the family atmosphere again made me think. … Stuckey came to Clemson in the winter of 2019 for Junior Day, and he talked seriously about coming to Clemson in some capacity. Swinney had one position open for a video graduate assistant.
“Coach Swinney didn’t think I would take it. He had talked to me in 2017 about joining the recruiting office, but it just wasn’t the right time.”
But this time, Stuckey was all in and came to Clemson for the 2019 season, a year the Tigers again reached the national championship game.
Stuckey was then elevated to a development coach for the 2020 season, another College Football Playoff season for the Tigers. At the end of the year, he was named wide receivers coach at Baylor.
“Coach Swinney told me once I got into the profession, I would be on the fast track. He gave me confidence and I learned so much from him and the other coaches on the staff.”
https://clemsontigers.com/chansi-stuckey-2023-program-story/
Dabo was correct. Chansi Stuckey’s coaching career has been on the fast track. According to Wikipedia:
“Stuckey was named the wide receivers coach at Baylor on January 5, 2021.
Stuckey was named the wide receivers coach at Notre Dame on January 12, 2022.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chansi_Stuckey

Just kidding of course. Just proves you're human and not a robot. You do an excellent job with the stories.
Chansi Stuckey and Tony Steward were great players. Stuckey has had an interesting career and life. Steward battled a lot of adversity with the injuries and the incredibly sad loss of his fiancee. Tony and her family did start the Fight Like a Girl charity to fund ovarian cancer research.

If anyone is interested, I here is the post on Tony Steward that was intended for yesterday today. TNet, please accept my apologies!
Tony Steward arrived at Clemson as one of the most highly sought-after recruits in the 2011 cycle. But his journey (at Clemson and afterward) has been an unusual one to say the least. He was slowed by injuries early in his time at Clemson. But, he broke out with a strong season in 2014. According to his bio on ClemsonTigers.com:
“Talented linebacker who was hampered by injury during most of his career, but emerged as one of the team’s best defensive players in 2014 … valuable member of the special teams … had 141 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 14 quarterback pressures, three pass breakups, one caused fumble and one recovered fumble in 771 snaps over 43 games (12 starts) in his career.”
https://clemsontigers.com/sports/football/roster/tony-steward/
After Clemson:
The Buffalo Bills selected Tony Steward with the 188th Pick (Sixth Round) of the 2015 NFL Draft. According to Wikipedia, Steward’s career path proceeded as follows:
Buffalo Bills Steward was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round (188th overall) of the 2015 NFL draft. On May 18, 2015, Steward signed a four-year contract with the Bills. On December 10, 2015, the Bills placed Steward on injured reserve. Steward was released on April 19, 2016. New England Patriots On April 22, 2016, Steward signed with the New England Patriots. On May 11, 2016, the Patriots waived Steward.
New Orleans Saints On May 16, 2016, Steward was signed by the New Orleans Saints. On August 30, 2016, he was placed on injured reserve.
Warning: Stop reading here unless you are prepared to read something heartbreaking.
Sadly, Steward met with tragedy. According to People magazine:
“Tony Steward proposed to Brittany Burns just days after she was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. … Steward and Burns’ family were all shocked when the 26-year-old died on Feb. 1. The two were engaged for less than two months when she suddenly succumbed to a rapidly-progressing, rare form of ovarian cancer.
But the NFL star says he cherishes the years he spent with his college sweetheart-turned fiancée.
“Every single day was an adventure with her and just really being able to have something like that is unbelievable,” he says. “It’s amazing because a lot of people never even get to experience that in life and I got to experience it for four of the greatest years of my life.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Our hearts are with you, Mr. Steward! As always!

North Carolina Highway 140, aka Interstate 140, aka John J Burney Jr. Freeway, is a 25.4 mile state and interstate highway that runs from the west end at US 17 near Winnabow to the east end at I-40 near Murraysville and serves as a bypass around Wilmington.
The 6th lake of the 6 "Greer Chain" of lakes, Lake Blalock, is a reservoir/lake on the Pacolet River 5 miles north of Spartanburg. To create the lake, the Blalock Da_m was constructed in 1983, a 700 foot long and 70 foot high earthen "water holder backer" with a compacted 3 foot layer of concrete. The lake is 1105 acres and is a source of public water and is managed by Spartanburg Water System. For recreation, Lake Blalock Park on the Chesnee side offers access to 3 picnic pavilions, a boat ramp for use with a permit, a dock along with a lot of shoreline for fishing, and the lake warden's office. An interesting fact is that a very rare plant, the dwarf heartleaf, is found in the area and nowhere else.
