Swinney on team's struggles: "This is where we are right now"
It’s been a long time since Clemson has looked inept on offense. It’s been a long time since College Football Playoff hopes have been all but dashed this early in the season. It’s been a long time since winning the ACC Atlantic seems like a far harder chore than it has in years. It’s been a long time for a lot of things. Full Story » |

We do not learn anything from these the coaches just need to say we plead the fifth or no comment to every question the government does that everytime they don't want to answer or have no answer for the public, and also if we do not here coach speech we might exactly be surprised in improvement or maybe not. What I think is one problem on offense minus talent issues of course is that when Jeff Scott was here we had two offensive coordinators , one was in the booth and one on the sideline getting the players input and also seeing different angles of the offense and what the defense was doing and being better to adjust somewhat and make some tough yardage. But I think alot is coaching has dropped off but I also think the players we have are not elite players like they were in high school, it just like switching jobs for an adult you can be the best employee at your previous job and one of the who left at your next, alot is player development but also the player drive and passion for there job much like everyone else who works, the players and coaches have to demand better of each other and themselves to make the team work.

Maybe this year will prove that you can’t out-recruit poor coaching. Offensive scheme is stale and predictable, WR don’t play hard and are like practice dummies blocking (just standing in the way), the TE are so soft they need to get major NIL $ from Charmin and you can’t keep giving out scholarships to 3-6 walk ons every year.
Realize your ego is a huge part of the current ineptitude and if BV leaves due to the way you’re managing the program, we will be lucky to have a top 50 program with this current staff.

BV? You've gotta be kidding. He's in the catbird seat.

He's the one dude performing in the program right now, which is always a nice place to be, and if stuff keeps going south and changes aren't made on offense, he'd be in the driver's seat for the HC role. He's not going anywhere.

BV isn't going anywhere while his kids are still there

He said it in an interview a couple years ago that he's finally able to coach his kids, which is something he's wanted to do since they started playing football. Never could do it because of the commitment and time it takes to be a full time coach at the college level.
We've got another couple years at least. Hopefully he'll be our Bud Foster and never go anywhere.

Love your comment re: the scholarships to walk-ons. That is insane! When you offer a walk-on and you lose talent to transfers, the overall talent level drops. It HAS to.

Last week: We don't stink. This week: We're not very good

Either it just occurred to Dabo how bad we are, or even Dabo has lost the ability to polish the turd that is this offense.

I thought Dabo was smarter than this

I thought Dabo was smarter than this. Maybe he put way too much faith in TE or other coaches brought into the program. If anything Clemson has regressed offensively in a college football landscape where you adapt or die. Darth Saban in the Bama Death Star realized that a long time ago. Dabo is a far better human being and at the end of the road that is what matters but dang son!

We are where we are is very poetic, It could reflect an offense in the middle of the desert with 3 flat tires and no help in site. After the performances of DJ ( Not in the Dr. Pepper Commercials or his GQ Cam Newton threads) I cannot understand why Dabo will not put the back-ups in at QB just to see if they can do better. If this is the best we can do at this time with our 1st string offense I would hate to see how the back-ups would perform or maybe its time he let some of the backups in there just to see. It sure as hell can't be any worse than what we are seeing. I will continue to be a Tiger Fan and pull for them. But, forego the politics of the game and admitting you were wrong about DJ's capabilities and benching him for a couple of series. You might think of doing the same for other non- producers on that flat tire offense! Thank God the defense is playing, but 96 plays, Offense has to give them some relief!

Here’s the thing: if a CEO, who is getting paid millions, said to shareholders, “this is where we are” you’d see exactly what you/we are seeing now; people are righty upset at the complete lack of accountability and “leadership”, the stock would tank(rankings, bowl opportunity, recruiting), staff would leave-players bailing to portal, middle management would “mirror” the CEO-lack of accountability and excuse making and finger pointing. Dabo IS the CEO and he did a great job raising the stock price for the “investors” and recruiting talent. Now, when change is needed and leadership is not only required but urgently needed, he’s tossing up tired platitudes and shirking any responsibility or accountability. Hey, he’s done a great job. He’s a great guy. Everyone loves him. He’s a dynamic and charismatic coach. Yet, when it’s time to make HARD decisions, he seems unwilling(doubtful) or is suffering from a major case of hubris and “buck” passing…..sadly, as the CEO, it’s all fecal gravity fro here on out and at least, on the bright side, a very low tier bowl at this point(if they are lucky to make one by continuing with this system) will at least allow many to finally afford to go to a game! I fear he won’t make any changes, and the company culture will suffer and that will ripple into every aspect of the program for years to come….don’t get me wrong, they will be successful at some point, but it’s gonna be a bit of a bumpy ride until Accountabilty is demanded by the shareholders….until then, fire up the ever and enjoy re living the good times of the past decade.
