There is no doubt that a steady diet of FOX can influence a person's outlook and perhaps make someone anxious and angry. The same can be said of MSNBC and to a lesser extent CNN, although no one watches MSNBC.

The legacy networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC often fail to cover stories that should be covered and seem along with WAPO and the NYT to have abandoned investigative journalism.Joe Biden was cognitively impaired, I mean who knew? The media failed to report on what most of us could see with our own eyes and ears.

If you will go back and look at the big 3 networks coverage of Trump/Biden or Trump/Harris, the negative coverage of Trump far exceeded the negative coverage of Biden or Harris.

We were far better off as a country when we had 30 minutes of news a night, delivered by mostly responsible journalists who would take on both Dems and Pubs with equal fervor. We could use a Tim Russert or two now, who called BS wherever it existed.

FOX is definitely a pro Trump and pro GOP network, but there is plenty of blame to go around for the media becoming advocates rather than reporters. We are all the worse for it.

Not really the same on both sides.

The majority of journalists lean left. A simple Google search will support that.

FOX is a much more successful outlet to push the Trump agenda, but "journalists" and reporters definitely tend to be advocates rather than presenting both sides of an issue and let the viewers form an opinion.

I watch some FOX, a little MSNBC and typically NBC for nightly news. I read WAPO daily. During all the illegal immigration avalanche, I can attest FOX was about the only TV outlet giving the subject much coverage until Abbot and DeSantis began shipping the illegals to sanctuary cities and states.

I'm old enough to remember seeing perhaps just a raised eyebrow from Walter Cronkite over something he had a personal disagreement with. He was liberal, but he reported the news.

Now we have journalists who are primarily left of center and are often participants in a political issue rather than issuing information.

There is no doubt that FOX News holds sway with many GOP voters, but the media as a whole including FOX has abandoned a neutral stance for one of advocacy of one side or the other.

I don't have the link but Pew Research had a nice piece revealing that 55% of journalists do not feel the need to express both sides of an issue. It's a pervasive issue and not limited to FOX News by any means.

Sometimes deregulation and /or the free or pseudo free marketplace can have its ills.

Social media algorithms pushing people toward extreme ends of sociopolitical conversations

I watched that in 2017 or so. Well done and almost precisely what happened to my father. Unfortunately, we live far apart and the "intervention" was missed. Needless to say, it has been a difficult 8 years.
