I guess he wasn't thankful that his team wasn't called for all the blocks in the back that his guys was getting completely away with, and they're offensive player's were holding our guys every down...

Macs always been a whiner...UNC held on every play...no wonder Maybe don't get sacked too often! In western NC that much holding gets you a shotgun wedding!

I've never known MB to be a whiner. He's always been a class act and he's a great football coach. Everyone sees things from different angles, but that's my opinion of him.

At the end of article, he was asked if he thought Nate was out of bounds. What? It doesn’t matter if the defender is out of bounds when making a play. He just can’t recover a fumble. He didn’t recover anything. The ball went thru the end zone and OOB.

He was talking about the interception from what I’m reading. Anyway on the run down he had reestablished himself back on the field and the another defender had touched the player before Nate. If that is a penalty.

Mack Brown is one of the best coaches in football. He took a basketball school to the top 25 and made it compete with anyone. He's a genius. There's nothing senile about Brown except his expectation that ACC officials are going to completely yield to his will. He can work an official like Dean Smith or Rat boy.
We had half a dozen PI's which were never called and all the ignored holding penalties by UNC's O-line UNC got way more breaks on calls than Clemson. Mack sent word to the ACC officials' office that he didn't like what they didn't do for him. That reflects on his character, not his ability to coach.
Had any other officials call that game it would have been a Clemson blowout. Mack's behavior has more to do with his ethics than his age. I wish he would retire and so do the fans of every other ACC school.

"Mack Brown is one of the best coaches in football."
Poppycock.
Mack has been a head football coach for over 30 years and he has won only 2 conference championships. Frequently with the game on the line Coach Brown seems to freeze up like Mitch McConnell. Yesterday, trailing by 11 points and needing two scores to win Mack called for a 2 point conversion after which, if he had gotten it, he would still have needed 2 scores to win. And to make matters worse, he had to take an time off to get his botched play executed. Mack does this sort of thing all the time.
Mack is 3-10 versus Clemson while we have been coached by Ford, Hatfield, West, Bowden and Dabo. Brown is apparently a very likeable guy and he gets great press. I do not think Brown is likely to ever have another QB better than Drake May and he has won nothing with May at the helm. Mack has won a lot of games that pretty much did not matter. Vince Young won Brown a Natty and Mack is a nice guy, but I think a closer look at Brown's career is more revealing than his win total and great press.

M.Brown is a program builder via recruiting excellence and schmoozing of wealthy alumni.
This sounds meaningless, but, for college FB, these are the two most important factors.
Mack’s teams have always been poorly prepared for game day.
His assistant coaches are of dubious ability as far as actual coaching. (Many of his assistants are fabulous recruiters, however.)
His game day coaching has always been awful.
Add it all up, and a college FB program can rise from mediocrity to a truly good team under M.Brown. As evidenced by his national champion team at TX in 2005, sometimes the talent is stellar enough to overcome the mediocre coaching.
Ed Orgeron, Larry Coker, and Gene Chizik, each being one time national championship team coaches, serve as testament to M.Brown success model, except that Mack is much better of a program sustainer than these other clowns.

Wonder if he happened to see all the times their OL were holding our pass rushers and it didn’t get called? Don’t know why they have a rule for holding cause they hardly ever call it.

It’s gotten to be like pass interference and defensive holding. They make a snap judgement about whether the grabbing and holding impeded the player or not. If those calls became reviewable, it would be different. But if so, that game might still be going.

These come to mind:
-Roughing the passer on UNC on Cade’s INT in the end zone. The guy was clearly trying to block the pass and wasn’t going for Cade’s head. -Pass interference non-call on one of UNC’s long pass attempts. We clearly grabbed the UNC WR’s arm. -Cade being given the TD on that run. He didn’t seem to get the nose of the ball across the plane of the end zone.
Anyone here who wants to act like we are always victims of biased officiating or some anti-Clemson conspiracy theory should watch this game. We got several gifts that made a big difference.
As they say, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.

You're right he didn't get the ball across the plane of the endzone. The great thing about it is he doesn't have to to. Breaking the plane (aka touching) the goal line is a score, ball doesn't have to cross it. I was halfway up on the 30 yard line and could tell the tip broke the plane.

Multiple PIs missed against UNC

You going to point those out too? Refs weren’t calling PI either way. There were 3 missed that would have benefited us to their 1. Lost in Stellato’s near sideline catch was all sorts of early contact. Briningstool in the end zone. Randall on a deep route late.
Also, Cade was in, barely….but it only has to be barely.
If you hit the QB’s head hard enough, it doesn’t matter the intent. Glad we have made enough noise about targeting to at least get that sort of call.
No sympathy here.

In this game, we clearly benefited from some suspect calls/non-calls that occurred at critical moments.

That was a QB thing. They came for him so many times it had to happen eventually. You didn't see any of our guys leaving the ground giving up control over their bodies due to being embarrassed. He was quite overanxious and set himself up for the penalty.

Arguably, Cade is already among the best QBs that I’ve ever seen at the acting role to get important penalties called in the other team.
For those numerous other facets of the position in which he remains as a work in progress, we should give him his die in the theatrical aspect.

1: RTP on Cade was correct call, it was unfortunate but the correct call, even RG3 said it was a good call bc it was a vicious hit to the QBs head. I get it was unintended but it was still was a hit to the head
2: PI no call on Wiggins was a bad no call but there were 2, maybe 3, that weren't called in favor of Clemson so it evens itself out.
3: Cade doesn't have to have the ball cross the line, it just has to break the plane by the stitches of the tip of the ball to the field side of the white line and it did. It was called a TD on the field so there DEFINITELY wasn't enough proof it didnt cross to overturn it anyway.
Be happy for a win.

Plane of goal = edge of white line closest to the field.
The tip of the football didn’t appear to cross that front edge of the end zone.
If you want to imagine that it did, go ahead, but please don’t act like it was obvious because it wasn’t.
I am happy for the win. The people who are allowing themselves to get butthurt over what the opposing coach said are the ones who seem to be having trouble enjoying it.

Judge, you see what you want to see and that says a lot about your fandom. I saw the hit to Cade’s head as a call that probably should not be called but in today’s Football it is called all the time, because of “the letter of the law”.
The pass interference was very minimal hand fighting in my opinion.
Cade appeared to get the nose of the ball across the imaginary line of the end zone by the slimmest of margins.
I bet you think Stellato didn’t catch the long pass in bounds too right. I honestly think his foot was inbounds, but it was too close for me to be sure.

that they were not going to change it either way.
If it had been called a catch they would’ve likely kept it that way.
It’s ridiculous for you to question my fandom just because I might not see things the way you do.

Nothing wrong with it, I’ll absolutely take it since we have been on the other side of those calls before.
I’m not sure why it is so hard for some of you to acknowledge that we caught some breaks. If you’re such a homer that you can’t ever step back and see things objectively, that’s a problem.

If u hit the qb in the head it's roughing the passer. I don't like it but that's the rule. Nate did PI for sure on that play. Cades TD was clearly a TD imo. Nate foot was on the line. Shouldn't have been an int but I'll take it. We caught it on the review play where they were offsides so maybe they gave us one back.

Intent doesn’t matter on the roughing call. You tomahawk chop the QB’s head and it’s a penalty.
The refs haven’t been calling PI calls this year like they have in the past. On either team, all year long. In previous years, they made this a focal point and it seems like they have consciously backed off on the PI calls. In every game. All you want from the officials is consistency and in this case that is what we’ve seen this year.
The TD and Stellato’s catch were both too close for review to overturn the call on the field so the call stands. I was watching both of those replays on the big screen at the stadium and said right away the call on the field would stand. So that’s one each way.
JK - it’s just too bad our football team isn’t providing you the same level of jealous joy they were a month ago. Real Clemson fans are loving it tho.

Judge, if you hit the Qb in the head, does it matter what your intent was? It's the same with many face mask calls. No intent to grab the face mask but that has no bearing. It's still a penalty every time. Cade's breaking the plane could've been called either way, but it was initially called a TD, thus not enough evidence to overturn it. We were fortunate to some degree but they were not errant calls.

possible for UNC last week against Duke the football universe apparently had to balance the ledger. An opposing team finally had the craziness happen to them that epitomized 2/3's of Clemson's season.
I didn't take Mack's comments as any kind of slight - he's always been very complementary of Clemson and I hope UNC stomps the pack next week.

Clemson got a great game from Shipley last night. I expected him to step it up and he did!

Well, it’s about time something went our way. Can I get a witness?! That strip at the goal line, the play we should have never run with 8 seconds left that we made by lierally by the nose of the ball, their INT that was erased due to roughing the passer (which was a questionsble call). But, hey, we’ll take all three of those calls!!!

The roughing called on UNC was very similar to the couple that were called against Trotter this season. I thought they were bad calls then so I’ll just say the universe attempts to even things. Cade’s TD at the goal line was a TD because there were no good camera angles (not sure why every ESPN broadcast doesn’t have pylon cams setup). If he had been called short of the goal that call would not have been overturned either. Too bad so sad for the Tarholes.

Those are not bad calls. U hit the qb in the head it's roughing the passer. The rule is crap but that is the rule.

Cry me a river. Bad calls/no calls go either way. I didn’t see anything that was terribly controversial.

TNET: “Brown said North Carolina’s effort was unacceptable”
Brown’s exact quote from very next paragraph: “So I thought we played hard, really proud of their effort”

All the reviews rightfully went in Clemson's favor. That was roughing the passer by today's soft rules. We got away with a couple PIs but so did Walker's on the first long pass of the game.

Refs didn't cost UNC the game, the two catastrophic fumbles in the first qtr cost UNC the game. Hats off to the Clemson player for striping the ball to prevent the score. Hampton hadn't fumbled all season until this game.

I think that it's amazing that he didn't see any of his O Lineman coming close to ripping the numbers off the back of our guys jersey's, bc they held our guys on every down throughout the entire game that wasn't getting called, and he complains about them getting all the bad breaks. Shame on you old man bc what you're saying isn't the truth bc the Refs could have thrown a flag on their O L every down!!!!

Bottom Line Coach is that all replays were judged correctly even though most went in Clemson's favor!
