Bears fans were bears fans long before he got there and likely long time after he’s gone. And it has been a relatively painful existence for some time now.

Yeah I know some bear fans and they take their football seriously. Which in order to be a bears fan you have to because they have stunk for a LONG time lol.

Fields will stop caring the day his paycheck doesn’t say “Chicago Bears” at the top.

Most fans (and I would argue especially rust belt fans) have lived and died with these teams their whole lives, passed down from their parents, taking money out of their pockets to support them.

And every time some extremely wealthy athletes remind them that they, the fans, aren’t actually a part of this, the connection gets weaker.

As a lifelong Bears fan, I can see this young man has a lot to learn. We've got problems, starting with ownership and idiotic moves made by GMs, etc. However, one thing Bears fans are not is fair-weathered. I've been pulling for the Bears before this kid was even born. If he thinks it is bad now, wait until the city turns on him. He will develop an deep and thorough understanding then.
