He posted the man’s manifesto. He only focused on that man. He didn’t blame groups of people for violence because of their ideology. He blamed the man’s mental illness.

With all due respect, you’re not interesting enough to merit hatred. When was the last time I replied to you, like July? I’m just messing with you. You see a guy in the middle of the airport wearing a beanie with a propeller, it’s hard to not give the propeller a spin when you walk by. I wouldn’t give you a kidney or anything, but if you needed a pint of blood, I’d run by the Red Cross.
I think you should be really flattered that I am paying for t-net already and I’m consciously choosing to keep you off ignore—that’s pretty special.

Had PTSD. He had a very warped worldview, and I guess he felt the country needed a violent political cleansing of the Dems of some sort, so he thought what he was doing would be a wake-up... He was crazy.
I've been looking for more on the Jabbar guy in New Orleans. I'm sure we'll find more bread-crumbs from his time in ISIS.

Yes, I agree that the man is mentally ill.
The OP statement would be akin to me saying the guy who killed a bunch of people in New Orleans was crazy. 'Oh and by the way a Biden supporter.' You know, imply blame to a political side after one of these types of incidents, which is what I thought your post was about.

Not sure what anyone was looking for from reading it.
If I was in TN, I'd worry more about getting stopped and charged with DUI but am completely innocent...but still have to buy SR-22 insurance and a breathalyzer interlock device for my car (with a mandatory subscription).

But Nashville proper is just a baby step behind Berkeley, CA when it comes to embracing a chance to play smear the pigs.
My opinion stands. You had a far better chance of being pulled over on IOP by a cop who kicks your taillight out before writing you a ticket for it than you do a DUI in TN.

Why is this now a group debate.
I started out by criticizing the Nashville PD about manifestos.
IE throws in a non sequitur about fake drunk convictions.
I acknowledge that’s an actual issue.
In an attempt at shitgiving, I point out that he’s in a glass house throwing stones because IOP cops are the worst.
Somehow now you’re jumping in using “straw manning” to describe some TN vs SC shittalking.
This isn’t some deep debate.

Seemed more of a statement of fact rather than a suggestion this was typical Trumpkin behavior, which it isn't.
That's distinctly different from an ### clown like Manac or NC_Tiger who rushes here to claim all Democrats caused New Orleans to happen, or that people speaking poorly of Trump encouraged someone to attempt to kill him.

I see some of the things he talked about as being something akin to what you might find with militias (oath keepers or proud boys, or something like that), or maybe a hate-site like 4chan. Those groups are generally pro-Trump, and in fact, he's not crazy enough for them.
Do you agree?

I agree that militia members are far more likely to be pro-Trump than pro-Kamala/Biden/Obama.
I don't agree that being Pro-Trump is an example or possible characteristic of mental illness, or extremism, as wanting militias to purge the dems out of Washington is.

You won't find that in my post at all. You guys are making stuff up that I didn't say.
I said the guy was mentally ill. You would have to be in order to do what he did. It's obvious.
Then in another paragraph, I mentioned some things in his manifesto that were interesting to me. But I didn't say, "here's the part that shows the illness".
There's a group of you that have totally mis-read what I was saying. Being pro-Trump doesn't make anyone a terrorist or a violent person. But this specific guy did have a right-wing violent worldview. I'd like to know how he developed that, as it wasn't just a typical voter's view.

But here's what you said:
Obviously he's mentally ill. Then you skipped a line and added:
Wanted a militia to take over Washington and purge it of all dems. And he's Pro Trump and other stuff.
Maybe you come right out and say it, and maybe you didn't mean that those things were qualities of being crazy, but it's no stretch at all to think it was implied.

It’s important to mention that he loved Trump and Musk, to counter the conspiracy theories that it was a protest against those two. There’s still a large faction of nuts who think he was set up, murdered, and the car was remotely driven there.

He lived in a violent right-wing fantasy world, and thought enough of it, to post this stuff right before he killed himself.
I suppose if he had killed himself because he hates dog food, he might have posted that. But he didn't. He talked about militias taking over DC and purging Dems violently if needed, and how we needed Trump/Musk/Kennedy in charge, and how he needed to send the world a message. I'm very curious about what this guy was reading online, if anything, and what drove him over the edge. Alot of people are mentally ill, just like this guy. But they don't think the same way he thinks, and they don't commit these acts.
If you got your fe-fe's worked up about me mentioning that he was pro-Trump, well that's too bad.

What was your point with the pithy Pro-Trump remark?
3

Matthew Livelsberger was obviously mentally ill. He was also white and male. He was also a Green Beret. He rented one of Elon Musk's vehicles. He had a surname of German origin. So what?
A mentally ill man who suffered from PTSD and suffered from a traumatic brain injury killed himself.
Again what was your point in inserting this tidbit that he was pro-Trump?
I'm not pro Trump although I am generally a conservative Republican leaning voter, but it's tiresome to read and hear things that either overtly state or insinuate that folks who backed Trump are dumb, mentally ill or both.
Trump got 63 million votes in 2016, 74.2 million in 2020 and 77.3 million in 2024.
Perhaps Dems need to do a bit of self reflection.

It's a political manifesto....

I think it's instructive to know what this guy was thinking, and where he came from, when he decided to blow his car up in a public place.
I'm not blaming Trump or Republicans for his illness or his violence. But he had a violent fantasy right-wing view of the world. I'd like to know where it came from. I'd be curious what kinds of online material he was reading, if anything.
If he wanted to violently purge Republicans from Washington, and wanted a world where Kamala was the next President, I'd have posted that as well.
You guys are very worked up and bothered by this. Some of you who proclaim that you don't support Trump - over and over in your posts - spend a lot of time attacking people who are themselves actually anti-Trump. Are you an anti-anti-Trump?

All I could do was not vote for Trump in the primary or general election. Check and check.
Having said that, there’s no way in hell I would have voted for Harris.
However, there are a lot of very intelligent, very successful, mentally stable folks who made the choice to vote for Trump.
It’s not a black and white issue and again what was your reason for inserting the pro Trump statement?

It's interesting to know what he thinks about politics, to know his political worldview, since that's what he posted before he went out and blew himself up in public, putting dozens of others in danger. He's very much a right-wing violent-view nut, who had other problems as well, but who's political worldview seemed to have something to do with his own motivations here.
I would like to know what this guy was reading or who/what he was engaging with before he did all this.
If we're going to try and deal with political violence, we need to know the causes. So, when they leave clues, we need to know what's in them.
Likewise, I'd like to know more about the ISIS guy....what drove him to ISIS, what he was reading, or what group(s) he was hanging out with. Same things I"m interested in. But we don't have a manifesto in his case, at least not yet. Did he have an Islamist world view? Was he angry that the US didn't have Sharia?
We have American citizens who become radical, and commit acts of either terror or extreme violence. We need to study this stuff to help stop it in the future.

He was indoctrinated by all the social media and nutty MAGA nonsense out there. It's the same with the dudes that attacked our Capitol. It's just poison that is being sold to them....They are easy targets though. I think most people that post here could write the ###### for what these people fall for.

Dems definitely need some self reflection. The party is a joke. That said, anyone who would ever consider Trump in the Republican Primary as their top choice, needs serious mental help at the most, or at the least some self reflection.

They’ve already started. Attacking people while screaming “This is Trump’s America now.” Afraid the rates of physical assault and rape are about to take off.

wrote it, not sure it comes across as crazy.
... we are terminally ill and headed toward collapse. - not an unreasonable or crazy assertion; he may not mean we collapse tomorrow, for example, could be in a generation or two
...We are crumbling because of a lack of self respect, morals, and respect for others. Greed and gluttony has consumed us. - who would disagree? A lot of us believe this to be true.
...We have strayed from family values and corrupted our minds and I am a prime example of having it all but it never being enough. - yeah, we have strayed from family values - at least 40% of us have
A lot of us are just sitting around waiting to die. No sunlight, no steps, no fresh air, no hope. - maybe a bit dark here, but ask the people in assisted living what they think?
Our children are addicted to screens by the age of two. We are filling our bodies with processed foods. - At least partially true and true.
Our population is too fat to join the military yet we are facing a war with China, Russia, North Korea and Iran before 2030. - a bit dark again, but many non unhinged people predict war
We must end the war in Ukraine with a negotiated settlement. - not an unreasonable opinion
