TODAY. YESTERDAY. LAST YEAR. LAST DECADE. GOING WELL BACK TO LAST CENTURY?
As we've lost 5 million manufacturing jobs, what has our economy done? Oh yeah, GROWN. Our wealth? grown. Our net worth? Grown. GDP? Grown. Our military? Grown. When we had 5 million manufacturing jobs long ago, we also had HIGHER unemployment, higher inflation, and lower living standards.
As long as China remains communist, it will never surpass the US, unless we crap the bed........and that's entirely possible.

Shipping your industrial manufacturing base to your largest rival (China) and their communist partner in crime (Vietnam)
Allowing all of your electronic semiconductor chip production to occur on a island off the coast of China that has been expressly targeted for invasion by China for 70 years
Letting countries dump all their criminals and problems into your country with porous boarders
Borrowing hundreds of billions of dollars to protect countries that you run $160Billion annual trade deficit with

We have shipped our industrial and manufacturing base to Vietnam, China, Japan, Mexico, the EU, Canada, Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, all over the world. Canada and Mexico are our biggest partners, or were. We are quite diversified in our industrial trade. As for chips, do you remember those $500 CRT color TV's that looked like furniture? Or the first cell phones? Or the first PC's? Recall the price of those?
We import $4T of goods a year, export $3T of goods, and have a GDP of $28T. We have 330 million human beings and 14% of the planet's GDP, 4% of its population, and are the world's largest consumer market. The US consumes more goods than the CONTINENTS of Africa and South America, AND the Countries of India and Russia, ALL COMBINED. To do that takes excess, outside labor. As such, we farm off the least profitable jobs overseas, which still enrich American companies through leveraging our dollar. You think Apple or Google would be the most valuable tech companies without foreign labor?
End of the day, we have more wealth, and a higher demand, than we have the domestic labor supply to exchange for those dollars. We ran into this problem way back in the 1970's, and Ronald Reagan and Congress, and investors, and financial institutions fixed the problem. We imported immigrants, illegals, and opened up trade, leveraging our wealth, currency, dollars, for foreign labor. This isolates us from the inflationary pressure our wealth would otherwise create if we keep it in our borders. That was the lesson of Carter and the 1970's.
Tens, perhaps hundreds of millions of humans on this planet who are NOT Americans, work for American companies, making products to satisfy American consumers and demand. We don't have the millions of workers to replace that industrial capacity. Many Americans don't understand how our economy works, they don't understand anything beyond their own experiences. Someone says all the jobs left, NO, they didn't leave, they were SUPPLEMENTED by foreign labor. We retain the most profitable jobs, and enjoy trillions as the fruit of FOREIGN labor. Just ask Apple, Microsoft, Google, Wal-Mart, etc.
Trump is dangerous because he thrives on the ignorant. Always has. And America has voted, from a standpoint of ignorance, for what they like to hear (dems and pubs both do this). Rhetoric NOT based on reality, but perceptions many hold. An America standing squarely in isolation, on her own two feet, IS Trump's ideal America, that of the late 1800's. That's an America that doesn't win WW1, WW2, walk on the moon, win the Cold War, or anything else. That's an America that is not exceptional, but altogether average and normal. And that America WILL be surpassed by others, in today's world. Mainly because the world knows our recipe. If we don't protect our recipe, our dominance, then someone will step up. That is crapping the bed, and that will lead to someone else taking the top consumer position, and top military, and top economy. Crapping the bed.

AND, under Biden, the US had the highest standard of living in the world. (Don't believe me, check the Wall Street Journal on Jan 21, 2025.) But that won't last much longer. TheRump, the idiot doesn't know it takes 3 years to get a mfg plant running.
Stocked-up on toilet paper yet? Will your clothes last 3 years? Or will you gladly pay 50% more for your clothes while TheRump, and his rich friends, pocket the tariff money that YOU just.paid them to clothe your growing children.
Just read and learn and get wiser. The first thing you should know (you have known since 2016) is that TheRump lies continually and that every thing he does, (he thinks) will put money is his pocket and keep him out of jail.
I know you don't believe this, but soon the reality of TheRump's Autocracy and Worldwide Depression will smack you in the face. And you will know it, even if you won't admit your mistakes to anyone.

Just WOW! You watch way too much FOXFAKENEWS!
TheRump doesn't know that it takes 3 years to plan, build, stock, train employees and start-up a new mfg plant. AND, with TheRump jumping around on tariffs, companies WILL NOT invest money in new mfrg plants. (Any plants under construction are from the time of the Biden govt, you should know, even if TheRump lies about that.)
In the meantime, have you stocked-up on toilet paper. Can you go 3 years without buying new clothes? Meanwhile, TheRump and OldMusty are paying themselves $8 million dollars a day to fire 100,000 govt employees. Guess what, these people are not going to become the painters, roofers, landscapers and drywallers that are now too scared to go to work. Good luck getting a house built -- or a mfg plant. And those 100,000 govt employees probably have loans for 50,000 houses, and they will default on their loans and declare bankruptcy, sinking the value of houses that TheRump, and his rich friends, will then buy for half price, as they use TheRump's new taxcut for the wealthy to become mega-rich landlords.
MAGAoids have no idea that life in the US is going to sink like an elevator with no brakes, but they will soon be crying.

Joe Biden had 4 years to reverse the tariffs on China

Why did he not take action to reverse Trump’s first tariffs?
Surely he and his handlers would have addressed this elementary issue, correct?

All that does it make you admit the tariffs are a terrible idea.
Those tariffs were already bad going in. Trump just upended the entire global economy for his own personal gain and used Chat GPT to do it--and tariffed an island filled with penguins. That means he doesn't have a clue what he's doing.
There is absolutely no logical defense for what Trump did last week. None. If you can't explain the penguin part, you can't argue that this was a good plan.

And because there is a 10% tariff on the Heard and McDonald Islands now, your logical conclusion is that tariffs don’t work?

No, my argument is...
Apr 7, 2025, 11:16 AM
|
|
-They used Chat GPT to come up with the tariffs.
-They looked at the trade deficit to apply them and presented a bad equation to the U.S. people.
-They tariffed penguins on uninhabited islands.
Thus, my argument is that Trump and his people don't have a ####### clue what they're doing. This was a reckless, idiotic move that will cost people their livelihoods and possibly their lives. If they came to us and showed us a real plan to make us think they knew how to handle this, perhaps this would have gone smoother.
He's a ####### toddler slinging around a hammer and y'all are the parents making excuses for the behavior.

Tarriffs SHOULD be zero with all countries (except for China for the reasons you state)
For too long other countries have taken advantage of us and have implemented tariffs assuming correctly that the US roll over
I’d also add that China manipulates its currency by pegging it to the dollar rather than letting it float freely.
