Here in Punta Gorda, FL

Sep 27, 2022, 10:37 PM

I haven’t been this nervous since Hurricane Charlie, that one destroyed us, we did what any person would do, rolled up our sleeves, helped our neighbours, who in return helped us. We all rebuilt and we were strong than ever afterward. God is great, we will do it again. Corpsman never give up. Send some prayers boys, we sure could use them! Doc signing off. Godspeed too all Tigers, especially my gulf coast ones! T-mail me if you need a helping hand.

God bless. Stay safe. I’m in central florida, only looking at 17 to 30 inches of rain. We will survive due to the help of our neighbors. Stay safe my Tiger friend! We will get through this together.

What part of central Florida?

Sep 27, 2022, 11:33 PM

I'm in Lake County. They keep saying we will get 40+ mph winds for 10 or more hours with gusts up to 60. 12+ inches of rain over 48 hours.

We aren't in any personal danger. And our house should be fine. Our biggest problem will probably loss of power for a couple of days. Hopefully it won't be that long.

With every update it is good news for us. The 5 PM update had the eye going directly over our house. The 11 PM update has it further south and east so that the eye will be no closer than 25 miles from us. That will decrease the intensity of the wind, and will help a little - but not much - with the rain.

I can tell you the last 2 hours here in KW were pretty darn sporty! I lived waterfront SC and I know what 60 mph winds look and sound like. These were 80+ and relentless. Wouldn’t want to consider 120+ for as long as it could be in the Naples to Bradenton area. The weather channel has been consistent with one thing, being wrong.

Thank you inlet. Hopefully you've seen the worst and ok for now. Worried about Doc and my cousins. Although they're about 6 miles from the beach just north of Bradenton but I tried to tell them the wind could get bad... Especially since the house is 40 y/o. They weren't leaving no matter what because of the rescue horse farm they run in the Riverview area. Hopefully they're up there and a little more inland.

Stay safe. Thanks for the updates.

They managed to evacuate everyone out of Tampa which isn’t going to get squat and those in harms way are all still sitting there. TWC loves to parrot each other and hear themselves talk so much that I think they forget lives are at stake!

Re: Here in Punta Gorda, FL

It looks as if the Tampa Bay area will be spared a direct hit, but, the storm will likely be stronger (Cat 4 or higher) if it hits to our south since it will not have time to get over the cooler waters off Tampa Bay. It appears the track now is right over Orlando. We had thousands leave on I-4 yesterday to go to Orlando to get away from this storm.

God bless and protect you and everyone in the path of this storm.

it was warm and beautiful. Hard to believe just over a week later they will be hit with this. Granted not as bad as Fla but still serious weather. All of you stay safe and follow local safety info. I was in Savanah years ago when a hurricane came from gulf to Atlantic. It hit there as a TS and it was more than enough weather for me.

Praying for y’all. We went through 2 major hurricanes, Andrew in South Florida in 1989 and Marylin in St. Thomas in 1995. Several other less severe storms in South Florida as well. The one in St Thomas came right over the island and ever since I’ve said I never want anything to scare me like that again. Just please be careful and take care of each other. All of you will definitely be in our thoughts and prayers.
